Blues return to St Andrews tonight looking to secure their first victory since returning from the World Cup break (With the third place Play Off tomorrow and Final on the Sunday) after a draw at Blackpool last week, that really should have been a win if it wasn’t for the ref!

I’m hoping on home soil, despite my fretting following the fall through of the takeover, that Blues can return to the form that saw us climb steadily up the table prior to the break. A win tonight would see us climb further up the table to 7th place as well as leapfrogging our opponents.

Reading won before the break as well as when football returned but including those two they have only won one further match in their last 11 fixtures. It’s not going to be the easiest game but it’s one that Blues should be more than capable of winning, especially as Hannibal has mentioned that the team is only improving (Something that was apparent before the break). If Blues can maintain this momentum I believe we can secure all three points tonight.

Blues have slipped down the defensive record table to third but returned with a clean sheet last week. Reading on the other hand have been far less solid, conceding 30 goals to Blues 20 sees them with a goal difference of -6. They’ve thrown leads away and struggled to beat teams that, perhaps their opening few games suggested they should beat. It gives me a bit of a boost and so I do think we will see Blues secure all three points tonight.

Head to head Blues edge Reading having won 17 to their 16 times with 12 draws between the two. It seems to be a fairly well matched fixture generally with Reading edging the last five having won 3 to Blues 2.

The biggest concern Blues have is that top scorer Scotty Hogan is “touch and go” so may not be available, but Blues can score from anywhere on the pitch to be fair so hopefully it won’t be a huge issue. My prediction tonight is 2-0 Blues!

We will be happy to hear your thoughts
