So that&#8217;s all good then?<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s43016-025-01147-6\">Dietary species richness provides a comparable marker for better nutrition and health across contexts<\/a>. Dietary species richness (DSR) can be used as a marker for the nutrition and health. If DSR is related to production diversity, I guess that could mean trouble at lower latitudes?<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s43016-025-01130-1\">Socio-economic factors constrain climate change adaptation in a tropical export crop<\/a>. Actually the reduction in suitable area is 60% for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carbonbrief.org\/major-banana-exporters-could-face-60-drop-in-growing-area-due-to-warming\/\">banana<\/a>. And there&#8217;s a decline in yield too. Unclear what that will do to DSR.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/nph.onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/abs\/10.1111\/nph.70000\">Plant evolutionary history is largely underrepresented in European seed banks<\/a>. Would be interesting to apply this specifically to crops. Or even just crop wild relatives.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/10.1111\/mec.17670\">The Idiot&#8217;s Guide to Effective Population Size<\/a>. Can this be usefully applied to crops? I&#8217;d like to see how banana comes out.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/cgspace.cgiar.org\/server\/api\/core\/bitstreams\/641572a4-bb16-462c-a0f9-b8c673d783ea\/content\">Digital Revolution in Farmer Fields: VarScout Unveils Kenya&#8217;s Varietal Landscape \u2013 The Case of Potato<\/a>. I&#8217;d like to see how banana comes out.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mdpi.com\/2073-4395\/15\/4\/786\">Genetic Diversity and Distinctiveness of Common Beans (<em>Phaseolus vulgaris<\/em> L.) Between Landraces and Formal Cultivars Supporting <em>Ex Situ<\/em> Conservation Policy: The Borlotti Case Study in Northern Italy<\/a>. It&#8217;s difficult, but not impossible, to distinguish &#8212; and maintain &#8212; landraces of Borlotti beans apart from obsolete and modern cultivars. I wonder if VarScout would help.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/acsess.onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/10.1002\/csc2.70029\">Oaxacan Green Dent maize is not from Oaxaca<\/a>. Watch out for landrace names.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/journals.plos.org\/plosbiology\/article?id=10.1371%2Fjournal.pbio.3003037\">Mucilage produced by aerial roots hosts diazotrophs that provide nitrogen in <em>Sorghum bicolor<\/em><\/a>. Not just maize. And another aspect of diversity to have to worry about.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.science.org\/doi\/10.1126\/science.adj9223\">Cryptic diversity of cellulose-degrading gut bacteria in industrialized humans<\/a>.
