Ale & Radio Marks First Anniversary with Exclusive Collaboration Beer from Bayonet Brewing

Ale & Radio, a 24/7 beer-themed radio station that broadcasts from Sheffield, is celebrating its first anniversary with the release of an exclusive collaboration beer, Tactical Transmissions, brewed in partnership with Bayonet Brewing, an independent brewery based in Northallerton, North Yorkshire.

Since its launch in April 2024, Ale & Radio has become a popular destination for beer enthusiasts worldwide. The station broadcasts a blend of beer-related content alongside an eclectic mix of music, with listeners tuning in from the UK, Australia, Germany, the Netherlands, and the United States. The station’s mission is to support independent breweries, bars, pubs, and retailers while fostering a community of beer lovers through engaging content such as beer news, festival coverage, brewery interviews, and user-submitted beer reviews.

In addition to its audio programming, Ale & Radio offers a visual presence with an interactive stream wall where fans can share pictures and messages, and independent retailers can post beer offers and discounts for free, helping to promote smaller businesses in the industry.

To celebrate its first anniversary, Ale & Radio has teamed up with Bayonet Brewing to create Tactical Transmissions, a double dry-hopped IPA. The beer’s name draws inspiration from both the military-themed branding of Bayonet Brewing and the radio station’s focus on beer culture. Bayonet Brewing is known for producing high-quality, small-batch craft beers, and the collaboration brings together two independent entities passionate about supporting the beer community.

Jimbo and Aden, the founders of Ale & Radio, shared their excitement about the collaboration. Jimbo, a member of the British Beer Writers Guild, emphasised the importance of supporting independent breweries, particularly in an industry increasingly dominated by large-scale producers. “Bayonet Brewing embodies the values we hold dear at Ale & Radio – they create exceptional beers while maintaining their independence. With so many small breweries facing challenges like rising costs and limited support, we’re thrilled to collaborate with Bayonet and help raise awareness of the incredible beers they produce,” Jimbo said.

On brew day, Ale & Radio regulars Andrew and Abi Hall were also on hand to participate in the brewing process. Abi, who hosts the station’s Sour Beer of the Week feature, expressed her enthusiasm about the experience: “It was such a great opportunity to get involved in the brewing process. Alex (Postles, founder of Bayonet Brewing) was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about his craft, and it was exciting to see the beer come together from start to finish.”

Tactical Transmissions will be available starting in mid-March, giving Ale & Radio fans the chance to sample the collaboration beer before the station’s anniversary celebration on April 13th, 2025.
