It’s 1966, and Robert Simon has just fulfilled his dream by taking over a cafe on the corner of a bustling Vienna market. He recruits a barmaid, Mila, and soon the customers flock in. Factory workers, market traders, elderly ladies, a wrestler, a painter, an unemployed seamstress in search of a job, each bring their stories and their plans for the future. As Robert listens and Mila refills their glasses, romance blooms, friendships are made and fortune changes. And change is coming to the city around them, to the little cafe, and to Roberts dream.
MY REVIEW
This is a splendid, story, of man, Robert, who had nothing, no place to stay or no job. He makes something of himself, he takes, tiny room in a widow’s house. He has an offer for a run down cafe, with no name. Word had spread that the cafe as open again. Mila a young seamstress worked six days a week, until she lost her job, and couldn’t find another job anywhere. From exhaustion, she collapsed, outside Robert Simon’s cafe. Robert takes on Mila as a barmaid, then more customers with their own stories to tell, come into the cafe. Will an explosion, in the cafe change Robert Simon’s dream? With Mila being part of the cafe success and then being swept off her feet by someone in the cafe, will her romance, make her life even better? I 100% recommend this marvellous novel, The Cafe With No Name to every one of you book bloggers and to all the book club’s, wherever you live in the world!
