Chuck Trailer’s expands from beachside Bondi to Sydney’s CBD

After the success of its Bondi counterpart, Chuck Trailer’s is opening a sister venue in the CBD. Set to open at 36 York Street this month, the new venue offers a two-story space, bold flavours, late-night entertainment, and an atmosphere that doesn’t take itself too seriously.

Co-founders Ben Campbell and Brendan Darcy say the expansion was inevitable. “Bondi always felt a little too polished for us, so Chuck’s was really us creating a place we wanted to drink at. Turns out, everyone else wanted that too. Now, we’re bringing that same energy to the city – a place that’s been crying out for something with a bit more grit,” said Campbell.

Funded by Northern Hospitality, the team behind the late Neighbourhood Bondi, and Chuck Trailer’s original venue, the CBD expansion is turning up the volume. The upstairs bar will serve up fried chicken and cocktails until the early hours, while the basement will bring a buzzing live music scene, complete with a custom-built concrete half-pipe that doubles as a stage.

Nodding to 90s skate culture scene, the space is decorated with murals from Steen Jones and Sindy Sinn. Walls are wrapped in vintage Thrasher Magazine covers while truck-beds have been converted into booth seating. There’s a six-metre backbar lined with over 300 American whiskeys, 16 beers on tap, and a rotating selection of disco-inspired cocktails.

Chuck Trailer’s signature menu remains, with smash-pattie brisket burgers, loaded fries, and its cult-favourite house wings in flavours ranging from Jamaican Jerk to the infamous Satan’s Sphincter. The kitchen will fire up from midday until late, seven days a week, with trading hours extending until 4am from Thursday to Saturday.
