OCD & Poetry | OCD-UK

To celebrate our 50th magazine issue, we are turning the next magazine into a festival of poetry around the subject of OCD and/or OCD-UK. Seasoned writer or fresh newbie, wherever you are in your writing journey, you are welcome to submit your poem for the 50th OCD-UK Magazine poetry collective.

Poetry provides a creative outlet that enables people to express how it feels to experience the misery of OCD, and the promise of a better life as we move towards recovery. It can also help us to connect with others who are struggling.

We are therefore inviting you to submit your poem covering one of the following three specific subjects related to OCD:

  • How OCD makes you feel.
  • What life would look like for you without OCD (i.e. in recovery).
  • What OCD-UK means to you.

No prior experience is necessary; the only thing we require is a desire to write and express how OCD makes you feel, and because it will be our 50th Magazine, we will be publishing up to 50 poems in the next issue.

For those who prefer to express their creativity visually we also welcome any visual artwork/illustrations people want to submit to appear in the magazine, which we will use as artwork backdrops to the poetry.

How to submit your poems:

  • One entry per person.
  • Poem no more than 36 lines long.
  • Include your poem’s title.
  • The name you wish to be published under (you can be anonymous).
  • Send to magazine@ocduk.org before the end of July.

If we receive a high volume of submissions, we will include as many as possible and the OCD-UK team will select those that they feel most closely capture the brief.

We will be happy to hear your thoughts
