After two months of creativity, the 2024 ‘Animation At Work’ Contest for Cartoon Animators (CTA) has come to a close. Reallusion thanks all of its wonderful sponsors including XPPen, XPG, and Magix. Overall, the event received 139 global entries, each with their work-in-progress videos among seven categories: Business & Commercial, Comics & Art, Education, Best Vertical Shorts, Best Use of Cartoon Animator 5, Best Live Performance, and Best XPPen Use.
A total of 26 outstanding works have been selected from 39 countries, all with varying levels of skills and experience. Additionally, a wide array of styles and topics were created, proving that the Cartoon Animator is streamlined for creative diversity. Several newcomers who were first-time Cartoon Animator users were even able to use their newly acquired techniques, combining other pipelines for excellent submissions.
“An exceptionally well-paced advertisement for a drone delivery service that clearly conveys the business and its offerings. Townsend’s work-in-progress video was both informative and meticulously presented, providing a comprehensive look at the entire creation process—from storyboard development to the integration of Illustrator and SketchUp. The use of path animation to illustrate the transportation network was particularly impactful, leaving a lasting impression on the judges.”

“As an undisputed favorite of the judging panel, Hong put immense effort into every aspect of production—from storyboarding, storytelling, and character design to scene creation, cinematography, lighting, effects, and music—crafting a truly immersive visual narrative. The WIP video was equally impressive, showcasing his meticulous handling of volumetric lighting, scene composition, and camera shake. It was precisely these details that secured him first place.”
