Are you starting to think about your living situation for the next school year? Do you still have one more year of university-mandated dorm living before you get to look at student apartments that are off-campus? Ohio University is hosting an open house that showcases its second-year residence halls.
Long gone are the days of being a freshman or a first-year student. The second-year residence halls are broken into three separate styles: suite/apartment, mod, and traditional. The flow of the living spaces is all a bit different, and the open house gives you an opportunity to take a peek at each of them.
How Does the Open House Work?
It’s sort of similar to how you would schedule viewings for when it comes time for you to find an affordable off-campus home for student renters. You walk through each Ohio University off-campus rental that made the top of your list, and you decide which one fits your style and needs best. And some of the residence hall spaces that students will be walking through are larger and more amenable, similar to an apartment close to campus that you share with a roommate.
Students who decide to attend this event are also entered into a drawing for a chance to win priority selection. Not everyone’s specific requests can be accommodated due to limitations, but attending the open house and visiting all 3 room styles gives you a fair shot at getting your top pick for next year.
While the exact halls that will be featured on this open house tour are undecided yet, each of the 3 distinct room styles will be available for viewing. Your student ID is swiped at the start of every tour to track your attendance for the priority pick drawing.
Students interested in attending should check their email come February for details on specific halls. Otherwise, the open house tours will run from 5pm-7pm on March 2nd, 2025.
