Public Coast Brewing Launches Hazy Grapefruit Mosaic IPA as Part of New Slack Tide IPA Series

The good folks at Public Coast Brewing Co. were kind enough to stop by last week and share samples of a new beer as well as some exciting news! First, the beer…
It’s been quite a while since my last blog, but one thing hasn’t changed–the popularity of cans, and particularly the 16 oz. variety. Capitalizing on this and craft beer fans’ undying love of the IPA, the brewery is launching its new Slack Tide IPA Series. Focusing on small-batch experimental IPAs, this series gives Public Coast’s brewers the freedom to mix it up and have some fun. We can look forward to monthly releases packaged in 4-packs of 16 oz. cans.
Hazy Grapefruit Mosaic IPA, the inaugural Slack Tide IPA release features Mosaic, Mandarina, and Belma hops. 160 lbs. of grapefruit puree were tossed in for good measure. From the picture below, you can see it’s an absolutely gorgeous color. While grapefruit overloads the aroma, it’s more balanced in the taste. Overall bitterness is moderate, it has a smooth mouth feel, and finishes with lingering grapefruit and melon. This beer is a great start to the Slack Tide IPA Series, and I look forward to seeing what’s in store in the coming months!
In other news, the brewery has some exciting plans for Public Coast Farm. Details are not final but it sounds like the farm will open for blueberry picking. Blueberry picking has always been a summer highlight for my family. Does this mean I can pick blueberries with a beer in hand?

One can dream.
