Finally, Nashville-based Jamaican DJ/producer merchant drops his first original song, “Tu Ta Le”.
A melodic afro-house banger with hints of progressive house, it’s a collaboration with Belgian producer HOAX (BE) and Kenyan vocalist Idd Aziz. The song is all about the party, with Idd’s lyrics capturing that visceral need for a night of fun.
“About a year ago, Hoax and I connected online as mutual fans of each other’s work, and we knew we had to collaborate,” merchant says, lifting the lid on how the song came about.
“We started with the initial idea and sent it to Idd Aziz, who brought it to life with his incredible vocals. Over the past year, we kept refining it—going back and forth until we landed on what you hear today. What excites me most is the balance between both Hoax’s and my styles, fused with the high energy of the track.“
The invigorating club-ready song is out on Soave Records. It is the perfect debut for merchant, who has been dropping amazing edits and remixes of some of the biggest records.
