Apple has released an 8-hour Severance: Music to Refine To soundtrack, designed to provide “eight hours of focus—perfect for your innie’s workday.” Available now on YouTube, the soundtrack features tracks by the acclaimed electronic duo ODESZA, enhancing the show’s distinct, eerie atmosphere.
Severance has recently been crowned Apple’s most-watched Apple TV+ series, surpassing the record set by Ted Lasso as the platform’s most popular show to date.
Set in a dystopian world, Severance follows the employees of the enigmatic Lumon Industries, who undergo a controversial procedure that separates their work and personal memories. As a result, workers have no recollection of their lives outside the office, while their personal worlds remain a complete mystery.
At the center of the story is Mark Scout (played by Adam Scott), a company worker who begins to question the ethics and motivations behind the procedure. As he uncovers unsettling truths about his job and the company’s operations, the series explores profound themes of identity, memory, control, and the chilling impact of a dehumanizing corporate culture.
The second season, which is currently releasing new episodes weekly on Apple TV+, dives deeper into the consequences of tampering with the severance procedure, pulling Mark and his colleagues further down a dark path of mystery and moral complexity.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, executive producer and director Ben Stiller revealed that “a writers’ room is underway in L.A.,” with teams already working on the next chapter of the mind-bending series.
