What I Read in February 2025 – Books on the 7:47

A shorter month but still clocking in a review a week so I’m very happy with that. My strong reading pattern that I kickstarted the year with has continued and I’ve read some amazing books. The four listed below I really have been recommending to everyone, from a range of genres, let’s recap…

My February Book Reviews:

(Click on book title for my full review.)

/ Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros

/ The Peepshow – The Murders at 10 Rillington Place by Kate Summerscale

/ The Examiner by Janice Hallett

/ The Surf House by Lucy Clarke

Now, appreciate I’m late to the party here but when I saw LITERALLY everyone talking about the new Onyx Storm release (book three in Rebecca Yarros’ fantasy Empyrean series) I decided to give Fourth Wing (first book in the series) a go and GODS, I’m so glad I did! I’m not usually a fantasy genre reader but honestly, this books got me. Violet, Xaden and dragons – I’m obsessed.

Flipping genres totally – The Examiner is a murder mystery with a twist. Janice Hallett has such a unique writing style – all done through message boards and WhatsApp messages rather than straight prose – that you can’t help but be drawn in. Combined with the clever story, this is a great read. The Surf House was a more classic thriller – set in Morocco, it was high-energy and highly entertaining.

I had a non-fiction read in February too – The Peepshow has a grisly subject but it’s so well written, you will be engrossed. All about an unassuming serial killer in 1950s London, this book covers the case and trial plus gives a voice to the victims of the crime and has insightful commentary on the way the media reported it and society’s prejudice at the time. Really, really interesting!

Until next month, happy reading!
