Parallels has released version 20.2.2 of its Parallels Desktop for Mac virtualization software with a fix for a critical security issue that affects only Intel-based Macs. The exploit allows an attacker with access to the Mac but not root privileges to acquire said privileges by using the Parallels Desktop macOS virtual machine creation routine. Parallels strongly encourages all users of Intel-based Macs to update; the vulnerability does not affect Macs with Apple silicon.
