I’m getting in touch to introduce myself, following Laura Adams’ departure from the NCTJ. I am the senior training co-ordinator for the Journalism Skills Academy and will be your point of contact until our new manager joins us next month.
I wanted to highlight our media law and court reporting training packages, which are a great way to keep your legal knowledge up to date. There are four packages to choose from, all of which include a combination of law modules from the NCTJ diploma, as well as virtual masterclasses. You can find more information here.
We also continue to run virtual masterclasses and lunch and learn sessions to develop skills on a range of topics. Here is what’s coming up between now and May:
12 March: Developing interview skills lunch and learn
19 March: Media law masterclass
17-22 March: Editing skills masterclass series
26 March: AI in the newsroom
1 April: Introduction to podcasting masterclass
22 April: Feature writing masterclass

You can also learn in your own time through our e-learning courses, which include essentials of media law, a journalist’s guide to artificial intelligence, investigative journalism and SEO and maximising audience reach.
