Okay. I know, I know…. Mojitos are cocktails that are usually associated with summertime, and backyard BBQ’s, and beach vacations. Not with fall time or apple season.
You won’t need a lot of fancy bar equipment to make this cocktail at home, but you will need a couple of things:
And that’s pretty much it! Don’t worry about buying the most fancy or expensive cocktail shaker and muddler. Even the more affordable sets will get the job done.
Of course, if you would prefer your mojito just a little sweeter, feel free to add in a splash of simple syrup or a little drizzle of honey or maple syrup before giving the cocktail shaker a shake.
You may be wondering we even bother to muddle the lime wedges and fresh mint before shaking this cocktail. There are a few of reasons for that actually:
- It helps release the oils from the mint leaves.
- It allows more of the fresh lime juice to be released into the cocktail.
- Muddling helps these oils and the juice to better bind with the rum, making for a more cohesive and smooth-tasting mojito.
The sweetness of the apple cider is cut perfectly by the tartness of the lime juice. And the fresh mint gives this cocktail a balanced burst of freshness.
