Hidden camera footage released by Animal Justice shows hundreds of ferrets languishing in Canada’s largest ferret mill in Melita, Manitoba. The footage, released in January 2025, shows approximately 500 animals locked in filthy, tiny wire cages caked in dust and feces. Provincial authorities are investigating, but it seems that none of the animals have been removed from the facility.
The Ferret Association of Connecticut, a ferret rescue organization, has pledged $50,000 USD to take in ferrets from this breeder and support their rescue and care.
Please join in urging the Manitoba government to rescue the ferrets now from this cruel pet mill and secure permanent, loving homes! Additionally, ask Manitoba to finally strengthen and enforce breeder licensing to protect animals.
