The Old Watering Can by Louise Royston-Smith
Paperback published by Graffeg Limited 3rd April 2025
ISBN 9781802587067
Grandma takes two watering cans to her greenhouse every day. One watering can is shiny, new, proud and perfect, but the other is old and leaky and arrives at the greenhouse half-empty. The old watering can is ashamed of its leak, but when Grandma points out why she’ll kept it all these years, the watering can realises that it has its own very important purpose.
MY REVIEW
The Old Watering Can is a lovely fresh original story that all children will enjoy, who love playing in the garden, or helping out watering the flowers. In this beautiful illustrated story, Grandma has two watering cans, because the old watering can, that Grandma has had for years now has a leak in it. The other watering can is a new one, which when full to the top can splash out the top. There’s a surprise in store as the old watering can with its leak has its own very important use. What I loved about this book it gives easy to follow pictures for children in how to grow windflowers. At the end of the book it has a lovely special space for children to draw or paint Grandma’s garden and draw their own colourful wildflowers. This book is a winner for children from the first page until the very last.
