It’s [early] Sunday morning, and I sit down in my studio with headphones to collect and share a selection of releases (albums, compilations and EPs) that have graced my rotations in the last month and truly deserve your time and money. It’s not that these do not deserve a proper write-up; it’s just that there’s never enough time. It’s been about a month since I announced Headphone Community, highlighting James Murray as the featured artist of this month (March 2025), and I must admit that returning to long-form writing, active listening, and, in general, spending more time with an artist and their music has rekindled my appreciation for deep and focused channeling of my attention – the opposite of shouting media and algorithm-driven content stealing it away from me. There’s something truly special about the ritual of pulling out the record, putting down the needle, looking at the artwork, and getting fully immersed in sound. And even though not everything is physical and tactile [the cost and inconvenience of vinyl has finally taken its toll on me], it’s possible to be attentive with the rest. And that’s precisely what I’m trying to do here, by establishing genuine connections between musicians and their fans while offering support to the creators.
