This past Saturday, numerous tornadoes touched down in central and northern Alabama resulting in severe damage. So far, we know of at least 8 confirmed tornadoes, but with additional surveys still ongoing, its highly probable that several more will be added later in the week. The strongest tornado so far has been an EF3 in Plantersville, but several others were rated at least EF2 in strength.
The image above is from the NWS damage assessment toolkit. It shows the paths of all the confirmed tornadoes (lines of triangles) as well as the areas that still need to be surveyed (blue polygons). We will have a full report in the coming days once all of the tornadoes have been surveyed, but it will take some time for all of the information to be gathered.
