Entire iPhone 17 Lineup To Feature Upgraded Front Camera

Apple’s iPhones haven’t seen any meaningful upgrades to their front-facing cameras in years, but that looks set to change later this year.

A new report claims that Apple will bring new 24-megapixel cameras to the entire iPhone 17 lineup this September.

That’s according to a MacRumors report citing a research note by GF Securities analyst Jeff Pu. The analyst reportedly “hared a chart in which he reiterated that the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max will each be equipped with a 24-megapixel front camera.”

All current iPhones have a 12-megapixel front camera but analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had previously suggested that at least one of the new iPhone 17 models will receive an upgrade that will see twice the megapixels. However, both Kuo and Pu have had mixed records in the past, so it’s important to keep that in mind.

Continuing his note, Pu also believes that the new iPhone 17 models will have 12GB of RAM and a 48-megapixel telephoto camera will be part of the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max models.

The same report also expects that the A19 and A19 Pro chips that will be used in the new iPhones will be based on a newer 3rd-gen 3nm manufacturing process called N3P. As for launch dates, if Apple sticks to its usual pattern we can expect a launch in September this year.
