Airbus deal for Thai Airways A350-900 retrofit progresses

Airbus has signed a signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with and Thai Airways (THAI) to retrofit the airline’s fleet of A350-900 aircraft.

The agreement was announced on April 9, 2025, during a signing ceremony at Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg, Germany.

Airbus, which will oversee the retrofit program, said the refurbishment will include state-of-the-art cabin upgrades to “enhance passenger comfort and operational efficiency”.

The Thai Airways A350-900s will be equipped with the latest cabin innovations which include “modernized and elevated” ‘Royal Silk’ business class seats, new premium economy class seats and economy class seats.

The cabin modernization, which is expected to start in 2028, will also see an improved in-flight entertainment system installed.

The retrofitted aircraft are expected to re-enter service in phases, ensuring minimal impact to Thai Airways’ flight operations.
