While I love beer festivals in general, I especially enjoyed the format of this event. It had no tasting mugs, no entry fees, tokens, or long lines. Instead, I just selected the beers I wanted to taste and received a personalized tasting tray. Prices, at $2 for a 5 oz. taster, were great. Also unique was the ability to taste the beers side-by-side–something you generally can’t do at a “traditional” beer fest. The only improvement I might suggest is to provide a list of detailed beer descriptions, which would have been helpful when making selections.
As far as favorite tastes, Stormbreaker’s Cloudripper FH Citra was a standout for me. It was loaded with bright, juicy orange. I was less excited about DeGarde’s The Frais FH, as it had way too much barnyard flavor. Apparently, some people are into that…
