Four New CBDT Members Hired by Government

The Union government has selected four new members for the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT). On thursday an official order was passed that states, The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), directed by  Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has finalized the names of four 1989 batch Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officers of the Income Tax cadre—Pankaj Kumar Mishra, Sanjay Bahadur, L. Rajasekhar Reddy and G. Aparna Rao.

FIU’s former director, Pankaj Kumar Mishra, has been providing service as a member (finance) in the Atomic Energy Commission. Meanwhile, Sanjay Bhadur is working as the principal director general (training) of the Income Tax department in Delhi.

L. Rajasekhar Reddy is serving as principal chief commissioner (TDS) at Chennai, and G. Aparna Rao as principal chief commissioner at Bengaluru.

The decision-making body of the Direct Taxes administration of the country and the Income Tax Department is the CBDT.

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), operating under the Department of Revenue in the Union Ministry of Finance, is led by a chairman and can have up to six members at the rank of Special Secretary

At present, Chairman Ravi Agrawal (1988 batch IRS) is leading the CBDT, while the other two members who are serving are Prabodh Seth and Ramesh Narain Parbat of the 1989 batch.
