Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific has expanded its network of services to destinations in the US for summer 2025 by adding new direct flights between Hong Kong and Dallas, Texas. The addition of Dallas to its network is a strategic move for the carrier, which has made the further strengthening of connectivity between Hong Kong, the Chinese Mainland, and North America a key part of its expansion plans for 2025.
The new flights, the first of which departed from Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) on April 24, 2025, will be operated by the carrier’s fleet of Airbus A350-1000 widebodies and will operate four times weekly in each direction. The inaugural flight touched down at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport on the same date at 17:09 local time, having taken 13 hours and 47 minutes to fly the 8,170-mile (13,072 km) eastbound leg from Hong Kong.
To mark the occasion of the arrival of the first of the new flights, Cathay Pacific’s Director of Customer Travel, Erica Peng, and Airport Authority Hong Kong Executive Director of Airport Operations Steven Yiu Siu-chung gathered at Hong Kong Airport to celebrate the new service’s launch.
The addition of Dallas marks the sixth new passenger destination launched so far in 2025 by the Cathay Group, which includes Cathay Pacific and low-cost carrier HK Express, with a total of 15 new destinations already announced for 2025, “and more to come”, according to a Group statement.
“This new route heralds an exciting chapter in the expansion of Cathay Pacific’s North America network, further enhancing the global connectivity of its home hub, Hong Kong, while providing greater choice and convenience for customers,” the statement adds.
“The launch of our direct passenger flights between Hong Kong and Dallas for the very first time demonstrates our commitment to providing our customers with convenient access to the most exciting destinations around the world from our Hong Kong hub,” said Cathay Pacific’s Chief Customer and Commercial Officer Lavinia Lau. “As a Group, we are continuing to add more ports to our passenger network, which will exceed 100 destinations within the first half of [2025].”
“With our Cathay Pacific codeshares and other flight options, customers can connect to domestic destinations in the United States as well as destinations in Central and South America via Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. We also look forward to welcoming customers from the dynamic city of Dallas and the wider Americas onboard our flights, as they travel to Hong Kong or connect to the many onward destinations available through our extensive global network,” Lau added.
The new flights depart from Hong Kong on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays as CX876 and leave at 16:05 local time, with a scheduled arrival time in Dallas at 17:55 the same day. The return flights (CX875) are scheduled to depart from Dallas at 22:55, arriving back into Hong Kong at 04:35 two days later (due to crossing the international Date line westbound and gaining 24 hours).
Each of the carrier’s A350-1000 ultra-long-haul jets accommodates 334 passengers in a three-class configuration featuring 46 seats in business class, 32 in premium economy, and 256 in economy. The airline has 18 of the type in service with an average fleet age of just 5.5 years, according to ch-aviation.
2025 growth plans
During the peak period of summer 2025, Cathay Pacific will operate more than 110 return flights per week to eight destinations in North America, including Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Toronto, and Vancouver. Elsewhere, the carrier has already announced the planned commencement of non-stop services to Urumqi (China) on April 28, 2025, followed by Rome (Italy) on June 5, 2025, Munich (Germany) on June 16, 2025, and Brussels (Belgium) on August 3, 2025.
Cathay Pacific’s new passenger service to Dallas will also complement Cathay Cargo’s existing freighter services to the city via Anchorage. In total, Cathay Cargo is operating close to 40 return freighter flights per week to North America during the summer of 2025.
Cathay Pacific becomes the second Asian carrier in the space of a week to announce services to Dallas after EVA Air announced that it will launch non-stop services from Taipei’s Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) and Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW). The Taiwanese airline will commence its own services to Dallas on October 3, 2025, operated by the carrier’s fleet of Boeing 777-300ER.
