Artist Fanakapan’s London Mural
—
It’s been some time since we last caught up with the London-based street artist having last featured his work on the site when he painted a hyper-realistic helium balloon mural just off Brick Lane on Heneage Street.
Working over a number of days on the mural in a location where we have previously seen work from London street artist Ben Eine, who painted not one but two murals at the same location.
We stopped by to catch some photographs of Fanakapan in action at work painting this mural and building up the layers of colours on the wall to create a 3dimensional effect on the helium balloons giving them a life-like appearance.
The final day of painting saw some last-minute highlights added to make the balloons pop off the wall as well as the addition of some UV paint. The helium balloons have been twisted in such a way as to spell out the message ‘Rise and Shine’ in this new mural.

Fanakapan is planning to release a screen-printed edition of this mural with the typographic collective OurTypes. Alongside the monochrome print edition, Fanakapan is planning to release an edition with hand-finished highlights, as well as a multi-colored UV ink edition that will glow under black light.
