Vacancies for PhD candidates, working in Kazakhstan – Arctic Anthropology


Our colleague Peter Finke will launch a new project on the production, processing and trade of food in Kazakhstan. The project offers a really generous 4 full years of funding, including an entire year of fieldwork. The rest of the time the candidates would live in Zurich with a Swiss salary working in Prof Finke’s team. Sounds like a rare opportunity! Kazakhstan is not quite the Arctic, but many of us who have worked in the areas closer to central Asia in the North could be theoretically eligible for these vacancies too.

Hopefully this will contribute to training excellent anthropologists in “near-Arctic” and “near-Siberian” studies…
