WATCH: Nick Saban learns of his selection for the College Football Hall of Fame

In the pregame of tonight’s Cotton Bowl matchup between Texas and Ohio State, Nick Saban’s fellow College GameDay hosts informed him that he has been selected for the 2025 College Football Hall of Fame class.

The selection criteria stipulate that a coach is eligible immediately if he retires at the age of 70 or older. Saban is in that group, and to the surprise of exactly no one will be inducted on the first ballot following his retirement. ESPN chose the one year anniversary of his retirement to surprise him with the news. In true Nick fashion, he credited everyone in the organization with the accomplishment.

One can only imagine the representation Alabama will have at that ceremony, which will be held at the Bellagio in Las Vegas on December 9:

The 2025 College Football Hall of Fame Class will be officially inducted during the 67th NFF Annual Awards Dinner Presented by Las Vegas on December 9, 2025, at the Bellagio Hotel & Resort. They will also be honored at their respective schools with an NFF Hall of Fame On-Campus Salute, presented by Fidelity Investments, during the 2025 season.

Of the 5.7 million individuals who have played college football since the first game between Princeton and Rutgers on November 6, 1869, only 1,093 players (less than 0.02%) have been inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. From the coaching ranks, 233 individuals have achieved Hall of Fame distinction.

We will be waiting, and watching.

Roll Tide.
