Author’s debut book about endangered animals becomes bestseller

A new children’s book about endangered animals is getting attention around the world. Armando and the Amazing Animal Race, written by Canadian author Diana Schaffter, became a bestseller on Amazon in the category “Endangered Species.”

In Armando and the Amazing Animal Race, the 12-year-old Armando spends his summer with his eccentric grandmother. They team up for the Amazing Animal Race, a grueling competition to take pictures of seven endangered animals. The challenge must be completed in just seventy days.

Together, they travel across seven countries, from the frozen Arctic to the hot Amazon rainforest. Along the way, they face challenges from rival teams, wild animals, and dangerous terrain.

With help from his brilliant friend Jinny, who supports him online, Armando learns to be brave. He discovers his love for animals and the environment.

Saving the planet

The book mixes fun adventure with serious topics like climate change, endangered species, and family relationships. It’s described as The Amazing Race meets Jumanji, with humor, heart, and a message about saving the planet.

“This book is pure magic. It is a work of art. The language, the child-appropriate information on everything from how geography and habitat best suits different species of animals,” a review on Amazon read.

“What truly shines for me are the rich descriptions of each country, the animals, and the people. Schaffter has a deep appreciation and respect for the natural world and the cultures she portrays, and it shows,” another stated.

To research the book, author Diana Schaffter followed her character’s journey in real life. She tracked tigers in Russia, met Indigenous tribes in Brazil, and looked for wild cobras in India.

Diana loves talking to young readers in schools and writes books that help children connect with animals, nature, and cultures worldwide.

Endangered species bestseller

The “Endangered Species” category on Amazon updates frequently. It shows which books are most popular with readers interested in animals and the environment.

The number one book is The Photo Ark by Joel Sartore. It is a powerful photo collection featuring endangered animals from around the world. Sartore’s mission to photograph every animal in captivity has made The Photo Ark a global favorite.

“The photography in this book is utterly amazing. It is a must-have for you or the animal lover in your life,” one reader said.

Animal rights bestseller

Another bestselling book in the broader animal-focused categories is Hope, How Street Dogs Taught Me the Meaning of Life by Niall Harbison.

Based in Thailand, Harbison rescues and cares for street dogs. He shares moving stories about dogs like McMuffin, King Whacker, and Rodney. His book is number one in Amazon’s “Animal Rights” category. It has touched readers worldwide.

“Humans can be absolute monsters with the way we treat dogs. Thank god there are people like Niall saving these loving creatures. He over came a lot to become the man he is today. Truly inspiring stuff,” one reader said.

“Sad stories repeating themselves all over the world daily. Please spay and neuter,” another said.
