NE1 Newcastle Restaurant Week returns January 13-19

NE1 Newcastle Restaurant Week will return January 13-19, offering diners the chance to eat at more than 100 of the city’s best restaurants for £15, £20 or £25 per person.

Last year’s two NE1 Restaurant Weeks, which took place in January and August, generated more than £2.2million for participating restaurants and delivered boosts to the hospitality sector during traditionally quiet periods.

Some of the city’s newest venues were among the first to sign up for the first restaurant week of 2025 – including Dood, Cilantro, Sunshine Restaurant, Fred’s, and EL& N at Fenwick. They’ll be joined by returning favourites including 21, Blackfriars, and The Broad Chare.

Dood has been created by the team behind Khai Khai and Dabbawal, and the new Persian and Levantine-inspired restaurant has already attracted a celebrity following. Owner Jaf Ali said: “We have participated in every Newcastle Restaurant Week since the start and know just how important the event is for the city and the restaurant industry. Restaurant Week has completely transformed the city’s restaurant calendar, turning two of the quietest weeks of the year into two of the busiest. We were quick to sign up for this January’s event and look forward to showcasing Dood and giving diners a chance to sample our Persian menu as well as enjoying the atmosphere Restaurant Week creates.”

Rachel Barlow, head of marketing and events at NE1, added: “NE1’s Newcastle Restaurant Week is a key date in people’s diaries, a chance to get together with friends, family and work colleagues, and a great way to dine out on a budget. For businesses, the event is a lifeline in what would otherwise be a slow month after the Christmas and New Year festivities. Restaurant Week creates a real buzz in Newcastle, bringing more than 60,000 people into the city, filling restaurants, guaranteeing working hours for restaurant staff, and encouraging diners to try new foods and restaurants. The event also boosts business for other leisure and hospitality venues and public transport operators. Browse all the menus and book early at your favourite restaurant to avoid disappointment.”
