It has been a great start to our 1700-mile journey! We were sad to leave our lovely hosts at the Tacoma Christian Reformed Community Church, but they sent us on our way with full stomachs and lots of good memories.
The weather was wonderful for riding, and we were able to utilize miles and miles of bike paths that connect the towns along the way. There were a few hills along the way, but isn’t that just a metaphor for life? Not every moment of the day is going to be smooth sailing. But it’s how we deal with those obstacles that determines the success of our journey.
As we arrived in Chehalis at St. John’s Lutheran Church, we were thrilled to find actual air mattresses — already inflated! — for anyone who wanted to use them. What a birthday bonus! Speaking of birthdays, the entire FCBA group sang to me before dinner and brought out a surprise piece of birthday cake with candles. It was wonderful to celebrate with such a great bunch of people – doing something we love – for an organization that helps change so many lives around the world.
