A LoyaltyLobby reader messaged us last week that the Graduate by Hilton New York had suddenly cancelled their booking for a visit to NYC this year, blaming an overbooking.
Turns out the hotel’s last day to be open OR remain associated with Hilton is today!

Hilton Guest Assistance offered the reader a paltry 30,000 Honors points when they should have relocated the affected guests to the same or a higher-quality hotel, keeping the price the same.
Those who book hotels way in advance may find themselves in a situation where they book a “by Hilton” property, only to have Hilton dump them on the street and tell them to book another hotel at double or triple the rate.

Conclusion
Those affected by this hotel closure should contact Hilton Guest Assistance and demand that they be booked at a similar or higher-quality hotel at the same price, using cash or points.
Hilton cannot just wash its hands when it, or someone else closes/reflags a “by Hilton” property, and the only ones who feel the financial damage are the guests who have trusted and booked a Hilton-branded property.
These hotels should own up and do the right thing.
