As a mom, these are the features I appreciate the most
Safe sleep
Morrison Outdoors emphasizes that their sleeping bags are safe for babies and toddlers. When you order the correct size, of course.
They have a soft and snug neckline that prevents the sleeping bag to slip over baby’s head.
And since they’re made of breathable materials, there’s no risk of overheating.
In our case, it was actually a bit too warm at night for the down insulated sleeping bag, so I just unzipped a tiny bit from the bottom to let some air in. The two-way zipper is also great for, sometimes necessary, night diaper changes.
Fold over hands
I find this to be a very important feature for two reasons:
- With the hands out, my son can still turn pages when we read at bedtime, find his paci at night, and hold his favourite plushie.
- If it’s warm at night, he can have his hands out to cool off but if it’s freezing, I can hide his hands to provide even more warmth.
Sizing
I’m glad Morrison Outdoors adapted their sizing for babies and little kids growing fast.
Since it’s important that the neckline fits perfectly, there’s no risk of the sleeping bag slipping over baby’s head. That’s why choosing the correct size is so important.
My son is 18 months old, and I chose a sleeping bag 18-36 months. The neckline fits him great, but there’s still plenty of room to grow into the sleeping bag. The sleeves are too long for him right now, but I can easily fold them over. And due to the prices of the sleeping bags, I’m happy he can use it for two seasons, and not just one.
The big question – is Morrison Outdoors sleeping bag worth it?
In my opinion, the answer is a clear yes. For our everchanging mountain climate, it’s a perfect piece of camping gear.
I can now sleep sweet and soundly knowing that my toddler is cozy warm in his sleeping bag. He actually has the best sleeping bag in the family, and only wears merino onesie underneath while the rest of us wear several layers.
While the price tag might seem off putting, Morrison Outdoors sleeping bags have a great resell value, and I’ve seen them pop up on Facebook Marketplace for 70% the original price and they were gone fast.
Overall, it’s a great investment since you can use it for two camping seasons. Good night’s sleep is essential, especially while camping.
