It might not have the fame of its meat-in-bread cousin — National Burger Month — but National Hot Dog Month is finally starting to get the recognition it deserves. And this year, I’m giving it the full-cased-meat treatment it warrants.
July is all about celebrating one of America’s most iconic comfort foods, with the peak of the festivities landing on both July 4th and National Hot Dog Day, which falls on Wednesday, July 16th, 2025. The entire month is officially endorsed by the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council, a group that has been promoting the frankfurter since 1994. But this celebration goes back even further, all the way to 1956, when the U.S. Chamber of Commerce first designated July as the official time to honor this beloved bun filler.
