Joining forces with our comrades from Atlanta, lager-darlings Halfway Crooks, we’re launching North German Pilsner today as the third entry in our 2025 Lager Series.
Built on 100% German Pilsner Malt, this supremely crushable lager has a subtle note of honey and a refreshingly bitter snap. Featuring hand-selected hops, this crispy delight deliver floral and herbaceous aromas, along with citrus and a delicate spice.
“We collaborate with a couple of hop farms in Germany. One of the hops we have in here is called Tango. It’s a new variety that has kind of been grown to help combat climate change. We have Tettnang and also Saphir, which is one of our favorite hops.” Shawn Cooper, founder of Halfway Crooks.
Six weeks in the tank yields a delicate but hoppy result, with hints of black tea, dried flowers and tangerine peel. The resulting 4.6% ABV is as crisp and refreshing as a breeze flowing inland from the Baltic Coast.
WHY THIS STYLE?
“This is a beer that has more of a bitter profile than normal in pilsners, which is something brewers really love. It’s clean and dry, in part due to the German 34/70 yeast we used here,” said Peter Kiley, brewmaster for Monday Night Brewing. “It’s super smooth and a perfect beer for a hot summer day.”
WHERE CAN I FIND IT?
Look for it on tap and in 4-packs of 16 oz. cans at Monday Night Brewing taprooms. This limited release beer arrives in our Atlanta taprooms today. It will start arriving on tap in our other taprooms next week, and also be available in package and on tap at select to specialty beer stores, growler shops and taverns soon.
And if you like to drink your lagers at Halfway Crooks, we hear a rumor that it might pop up on tap for their upcoming anniversary? Stay tuned.
About The Lager Series: In 2025, Monday Night will release six limited edition lagers, representing varied and delicious expressions of this classic beer style.
