Insecurities and Exchange Konsumisyon | The Soshal Network

By Guest Blogger: Dyanah da Dyologs

Joey de Leon + Rene Requiestas, Vic Sotto + Jose & Wally?

Bakit isa
Not only do
we imply that maids are “unattractive”, we also degrade their livelihood. We
offend the women who
help take care of our children.

Wats
DEMEANING of dis?!?!

We, Filipinos, are so used to making fun of others, that it’s already embedded in our system. We think it’s acceptable just because it’s the norm. I used to laugh at (and make) discriminating jokes too, until I realized that mean jokes are also a form of bullying.

Sometimes I would even self-deprecate. At the back of my mind, I’d
rather joke about myself already, than hear it from other people. Inuunahan ko na.

Society can be harsh, and our expectations on the so-called “beauty” have drastically changed. Good looks beget good luck. Those who are “good-looking” get “better” opportunities. I keep on adding quotation marks because these are only labels that we create in our own heads. Stereotypes that are superficial.

The TRUTH is what we CHOOSE to believe in.

There was a time in my life when I had a lot of insecurities. But instead of #hugot , I made #kapit . (Yes, I can be konyo
like dat.)

What I mean to say is: Hold on to INSPIRATIONS instead of
INSECURITIES.

Examples of Insecurities’ Inspiration, a.k.a. “INSPECURATION”:

  • Ma-Noo Po = Lucy Torres
  • Lapu-Lapu Lips = Angelina Jolie
  • Troso Legs = Beyonce
  • Kulay Morena = Maine Mendoza

Tapos kontrahin mo ang mga kontrabida.

Better yet, let’s stop making excuses for our “flaws”. Let’s not
categorize each other. At the end of the day, we are all God’s children with
equal blessings, just different manifestations.

Be what you WANT to be, NOT
what OTHERS want to SEE

Remember, you are unique. Just like me. #LaboMehn

P.S. I would also like to apologize to people I might have insulted in
the past. It’s a constant challenge to avoid demeaning jokes, but I am aware
now. I’m SORRY.

We will be happy to hear your thoughts
