Ninja to Koroshiya no Futarigurashi – Episode 12 (END) – Satoko’s New Eye and Konoha’s Return

After flushing the phone down the toilet, Satoko manages to get a new one and have her data restored.

As Konoha goes on a dangerous mission to prove herself, she can still be an assassin, and Satoko finally gets some of her injuries fixed. However, she gets a bit concerned about Konoha after she hasn’t returned for three weeks.

Last time, Konoha was on a special mission, while Satoko took care of the house. As expected, it appears that Satoko has obtained a new phone and restored it from the cloud. She finds out that Konoha called, but she won’t pick up for some reason. She didn’t think much of it until later.

As promised, Satoko finally gets her broken tooth fixed.
Of course, Minato and Marin does some experiments on Satoko’s left eye.

With that, as promised, thanks to Marin begging Minato to fix Satoko up, she finally gets fixed up. First is her broken tooth, which, of course, looks painful. The second is her left eye, which Minato and Marin decide to experiment with to give it special abilities. Well, most of the experiments failed, besides the Robotko-like eye.

Satoko gets an AR eye.
Believe it or not, it can do more than a Vision Pro such as shooting lasers.

The funny thing is that it’s like having a Vision Pro as she has various app windows open, including a photo of Konoha as she practices using it. This Robotko eye is what Satoko settles on for now as she answers the door for Aoko. She wonders where Satoko is as she brings boxes of stuff from her locker. It’s because it’s too messy. From Aoko, Satoko learns that Satoko has been away for three weeks.

Satoko helps Marin with her assassin job so she doesn’t face the same fate as Konoha.

Marin, of course, heads out as she has to do her assassin work. After all, she doesn’t want to end up like Konoha. She reveals that it’s hard to get out of the assassin association as they head to their job destination. Marin asks if Satoko saw any suspicious people as they blend into the public. She thinks it’s Aoko, but not really. After all, the mascot and little girl are a bit sus.

Well, that bunny girl ninja is back.
Apparently, she is ready to face off against Satoko’s leaf powers.
Satoko finally uses the Robotko’s beam.
Yukari tries to finish Satoko off as her beam attack ran out.
At last, Konoha manages to make it back alive and reunites with Satoko.

After finishing their job, the bunny girl ninja named Yukari appears, throwing a trump card. As expected, she easily knocks Marin out. However, Satoko’s old tricks don’t quite work, as after turning her jacket into leaves, Yukari has an octopus wrapped around her body. Satoko is in a pickle until she decides to use the beam attack, which not only gets rid of the octopus but wreaks havoc. That is, until the beam attack stopped walking, and it fell out of her eye. Yukari beat Satoko up before she tried to stab her. Konoha came to rescue Satoko, missing an arm. Yes, she has a lot of scars, but she managed to survive and convince the assassin association to return home, as she is worried about Satoko. Seeing Satoko reunite with Konoha is heartwarming.

Time to deal with Yukari, together.
Yep, this is how Konoha managed to save her arm.
Yep, they keep this a secret.
The last (at least for this anime) assassin ninja and we barely know you.
Another job well done.

Eventually, Konoha finished Yukari off as Satoko turns her remains into leaves. The interesting thing is that Konoha still has her arm in solid ice. Additionally, the reason she didn’t answer is that a bullet broke her phone. At least Minato reattached Konoha’s arm since she saved Marin after all. Also, the moment where Satoko and Konoha reflect on their time living together. Yep, Konoha is probably the worst off, but at least they are happy to be together, despite being in debt and Konoha’s rankings being in the dumps. At least they decided to work on improving their ranking, and, of course, they saw off the last ninja assassin, Kanon, who had an assortment of weapons that she didn’t use. As expected, she has nothing unique about her compared to the others.

Final Thoughts

Ninja to Koroshiya no Futarigurashi is a fun slice-of-life comedy, mainly due to its characters. Each episode features its share of silly situations, along with some dark comedy, and even a touch of yuri.

As expected, Satoko, despite being clumsy and mostly unskilled, besides turning things into leaves and cooking, is a fun character who works well with Konoha’s more serious personality. It’s nice to see their relationship develop amidst the antics and some cute moments as well. The other notable pairing, Kuro and Yuri, is also lovely. Of course, most episodes feature the ninja assassin of the week, who is dealt with by Satoko and Konoha, where they get their moment of fame, before being killed off and turned into leaves.

That said, I won’t mind another season if it ever gets one. Also, some of the assassinations have quite a bit of gore, since it’s a dark comedy after all. However, overall, the execution is excellent, and it’s probably one of the more enjoyable shows to come from Studio Shaft lately. Along with characters doing the signature head tilts, there’s also an improvement in animation.
