24 Days of Advent Devotions for Busy Moms

Sharing is caring!

Hey mama, I see you.

You’re juggling work deadlines, school pick-ups, dinner prep, and now… Christmas shopping? The tree isn’t even up yet, and you’re already exhausted.

Here’s the thing: Advent wasn’t meant to be another thing on your to-do list.

It’s actually a gift. A chance to slow down (even just for 5 minutes) and remember why we celebrate in the first place. These 24 devotions are designed for real moms with real schedules. No fancy journals required. Just you, God, and a few quiet moments.

Let’s do this together.

Day 1: When You Feel Unprepared

Read This: Luke 1:26-38

The angel Gabriel showed up at Mary’s door with life-changing news. She was going to have a baby, God’s baby. And Mary? She was probably doing something totally normal when it happened. Maybe she was folding laundry or making dinner.

Picture this: You’re a teenage girl in a small town. You have your whole life planned out. Marriage to Joseph. A simple, quiet life. Then an angel appears and tells you that you’re going to be the mother of the Savior of the world.

Mary’s response? “How will this be?” She was honest about her confusion. But then she said something powerful: “I am the Lord’s servant. May your word to me be fulfilled.”

Here’s the Truth: God doesn’t wait for you to have it all together. He shows up in the middle of your mess. He doesn’t need your perfection. He just needs your yes.

Mom Moment: You might not feel ready for Christmas. The house might be messy. Your heart might feel unprepared. The presents aren’t bought. The cards aren’t sent. You’re behind on everything. But guess what? Mary wasn’t “ready” either. And God chose her anyway.

God chose you to be your kids’ mom on purpose. He knew you’d have hard days. He knew you’d feel overwhelmed. And He chose you anyway. You don’t have to be perfect to be used by God. You just have to be willing.

Think About It: What would it look like to say “yes” to God today, even in your unpreparedness? Maybe it’s saying yes to rest instead of more Christmas prep. Maybe it’s saying yes to a simple Christmas instead of an Instagram-perfect one.

Quick Prayer: “God, I don’t feel ready for Christmas or much of anything right now. But I’m saying yes to you anyway. Use my mess. Use my ordinary life. Show up in the middle of my chaos. I’m available, even if I’m not perfect. Amen.”

Day 2: God’s Promises Are Real

Read This: Isaiah 9:6

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

Here’s the Truth: Hundreds of years before Jesus was born, God made a promise. And He kept it.

The prophet Isaiah wrote these words about 700 years before Jesus showed up. That’s 700 years of waiting. 700 years of people wondering if God would really do what He said. 700 years of holding onto hope.

And then one night, in a small town called Bethlehem, God kept His promise. The baby born in a manger was the Wonderful Counselor. The Mighty God. The Prince of Peace. Every single word came true.

Mom Moment: When you promise your kids something, you do everything you can to keep it. You remember that ice cream you promised after the doctor’s appointment. You don’t forget about the movie night you scheduled. You follow through because you love them.

God’s the same way, but even better. Every promise in the Bible is backed by His perfect, unchanging love. He doesn’t forget. He doesn’t go back on His word. If He said it, He’ll do it.

Maybe you’re waiting for God to answer a prayer. Maybe you’ve been waiting for a long time. Maybe you’re starting to wonder if He even heard you. This verse reminds us that God’s timing is perfect. He kept His biggest promises, sending Jesus. And He’ll keep His promises to you too.

Think About It: What promise from God do you need to hold onto today? Maybe it’s His promise to never leave you. Maybe it’s His promise to work all things together for good. Write it down. Put it where you’ll see it.

Quick Prayer: “Jesus, thank You for being my Prince of Peace. When my world feels chaotic, remind me that You’re in control. Thank You for being a promise-keeping God. Help me trust Your timing, even when I’m tired of waiting. Amen.”

Day 3: You Are Chosen

Read This: Luke 1:30

“But the angel said to her, ‘Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God.’”

Here’s the Truth: Mary wasn’t famous. She wasn’t rich. She wasn’t royalty. She was just a regular girl from a small, forgettable town called Nazareth. But God chose her for something amazing.

Think about what “favor” means. It means God looked at Mary and said, “You. I choose you.” Not because she earned it. Not because she was perfect. But because He loved her and had a special plan for her life.

The same is true for you. God looked at you with all your messy parts, your insecurities, your fears, and said, “You. I choose you.”

Mom Moment: You might look around at other moms and think they have it more together. Their kids seem better behaved. Their houses seem cleaner. Their lives seem easier. You might wonder why God chose you to be your kids’ mom when someone else could probably do it better.

But here’s what you need to know: God doesn’t make mistakes. He chose YOU on purpose. Your kids need YOUR love, YOUR prayers, YOUR specific personality. Not someone else’s. Yours.

You have found favor with God. That means He delights in you. He’s not disappointed in you. He’s not standing in heaven with His arms crossed, shaking His head at your mistakes. He chose you, He loves you, and He believes in you.

Think About It: How would your day change if you really believed that God chose you on purpose? How would you talk to yourself differently? How would you show up for your kids differently?

Quick Prayer: “God, thank You for choosing me. Help me see myself the way You see me, loved, chosen, and enough. When I compare myself to others, remind me that I have found favor with You. I don’t have to be anyone else. I just have to be me. Amen.”

Day 4: When Plans Change

Read This: Matthew 1:18-20

Joseph had plans. He was going to marry Mary the normal way. They’d have a normal wedding, a normal life, normal kids. Then everything changed. An angel showed up in a dream and flipped his whole life upside down.

The woman he loved was pregnant, and the baby wasn’t his. According to the law, he could have publicly shamed her. He could have walked away. But instead, he chose to trust God’s plan, even when it didn’t make sense.

Here’s the Truth: God’s plans are better than your seven when they don’t make sense. Even when they’re hard. Even when they turn your whole world upside down.

Mom Moment: Did this year go how you planned? Probably not. Maybe you planned to be more patient, but you still yell. Maybe you planned to have more money saved, but unexpected bills came up. Maybe you planned for your kids to be easier, but they’re going through a hard phase.

God’s been writing a better story all along. The detours, the disappointments, the unexpected changes, they’re all part of a bigger plan you can’t see yet.

Joseph didn’t understand why God would send His Son to be born into such a complicated situation. But later, he got it. Jesus came to save messy, broken people. And His story started in the middle of mess and confusion and changed plans.

Your story isn’t over. The hard parts you’re walking through right now? God’s going to use them. Trust Him.

Think About It: What plan did you have to let go of this year? Can you trust that God’s plan might be better, even if it’s harder?

Quick Prayer: “God, I’m letting go of my perfect plans. I’m letting go of how I thought things should be. I trust that Your plans are better, even when I can’t see it yet. Give me the faith to follow You, even when the path doesn’t make sense. Amen.”

Day 5: Small Beginnings Matter

Read This: Luke 2:4-7

Jesusthe, the King of Kings, was born in a barn. Not a palace. Not a fancy hospital. A barn with animals. Mary laid Him in a manger, which is basically a feeding trough for animals.

If you were writing the story of how God would enter the world, would you choose a barn? Probably not. You’d choose something grand. Something worthy of a King. But God doesn’t work the way we think He should.

Here’s the Truth: God uses small, humble beginnings to do big things. He doesn’t need the spotlight. He doesn’t need perfect conditions. He just needs a willing heart.

Mom Moment: Your small daily acts of love matter more than you know. That hug when your kid is melting down. That bedtime prayer you pray even when you’re exhausted. That PB&J sandwich you made for the hundredth time this month.

You might feel like what you’re doing doesn’t matter. You’re not changing the world. You’re just getting through the day. But mama, you ARE changing the world. You’re changing YOUR child’s world. And that matters to God.

Jesus began His life in the humblest way possible. And He changed everything. Your small acts of faithfulness are changing everything for your kids, too. Don’t despise the small things. God uses them in big ways.

Think About It: What’s one small thing you do every day that you take for granted? Thank God for the opportunity to do that small thing. Ask Him to use it in ways you can’t see.

Quick Prayer: “Jesus, thank You for showing me that small things matter. Help me be faithful in the little moments, the ones nobody sees. Remind me that You see every hug, every prayer, every sacrifice. Nothing is wasted with You. Amen.”

Day 6: You’re Not Alone

Read This: Matthew 1:23

“‘The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel’ (which means ‘God with us’).”

Here’s the Truth: Jesus’ name is Immanuel. God WITH us. Not “God far away.” Not “God watching from heaven.” WITH you. Right here. Right now.

This was God’s promise to His people. They’d been waiting for a Savior. They’d been crying out for help. They felt forgotten and alone. And God said, “I’m coming to be WITH you.”

Mom Moment: Motherhood can feel lonely, can’t it? Even when you’re surrounded by people all day, you can still feel alone. No one sees how hard you’re trying. No one understands what you’re going through.

But here’s what you need to know: God is WITH you. On the hardest days, when you’re up at 3 am with a sick kid or crying in the pantry because you’re overwhelmed, God is right there WITH you.

He’s not far away, shaking His head at you. He’s close. He’s sitting with you in the mess. He’s holding you when you cry. He sees you. He’s with you.

You never have to face anything alone. Not the hard conversations with your teenager. Not the scary doctor’s appointments. Not the financial stress. Not the loneliness. Immanuel, God is with you through all of it.

Think About It: When do you feel most alone? Invite God into that space. Talk to Him like He’s sitting right next to you because He is.

Quick Prayer: “Immanuel, thank You for being with me. I never have to do this alone. When I feel forgotten, remind me that You see me. When I feel overwhelmed, remind me that You’re carrying me. Thank You for never leaving my side. Amen.”

Day 7: Rest Is Holy

Read This: Luke 2:19

“But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.”

Here’s the Truth: After all the chaos of Jesus’ birth, the long journey, the birth in a barn, the shepherds showing up, Mary took time to be still. To think. To rest in what God had done.

She didn’t rush to the next thing. She didn’t stress about what was next. She just sat with it. She treasured it. She let it sink deep into her heart.

Mom Moment: You don’t have to do all the things. It’s okay to say no to another party. It’s okay to skip the elaborate Christmas baking. It’s okay to have a quiet night at home instead of running to another event.

Rest isn’t lazy. Rest is holy. God rested on the seventh day of creation. Jesus often went away to quiet places to pray. Rest is part of God’s design for you.

This Christmas season, give yourself permission to slow down. To treasure the moments. To ponder what God is doing in your life. You don’t have to fill every second with activity.

Sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do is take a nap. Or sit in silence. Or say no to something good so you can say yes to something better, like rest.

Think About It: What’s one thing you can say no to this week so you can rest? What would it look like to treasure the moments instead of rushing through them?

Quick Prayer: “God, help me rest. Teach me to treasure the quiet moments with You. Give me permission to slow down. I don’t have to do it all. Help me be still and know that You are God. Amen.”

Day 8: Unexpected Worship

Read This: Luke 2:8-14

The shepherds were just doing their job. Watching sheep at night. Nothing special. Just regular work. Then suddenly, the sky lit up with angels announcing the birth of Jesus.

God didn’t send the angels to the palace. He didn’t send them to the religious leaders. He sent them to regular working people in the middle of their regular night. And those shepherds became the first people to worship Jesus.

Here’s the Truth: God shows up in ordinary moments. You don’t have to be at church to worship Him. You don’t need special music or perfect conditions. You can worship Him right where you are.

Mom Moment: Worship can happen while you’re washing dishes, driving carpool, or folding laundry (again). God’s there in the everyday moments. He’s in the mundane. He’s in the ordinary.

When you choose gratitude instead of complaining while making dinner, that’s worship. When you pray for your kids while you’re folding their clothes, that’s worship. When you thank God for a beautiful sunset on your way to soccer practice, that’s worship.

The shepherds didn’t clean up first. They didn’t prepare. They just went to see Jesus exactly as they were, smelly, dirty, and ordinary. And that was enough.

You don’t have to have it all together to worship God. Just show up as you are.

Think About It: How can you turn one ordinary moment today into worship? Maybe it’s praying while you make breakfast. Maybe it’s thanking God for your kids while you’re driving them around.

Quick Prayer: “God, I don’t need a stage or a spotlight to worship You. I’m choosing to see You in my everyday life. Help me worship You in the ordinary moments. You’re worth praising, even in the middle of my messy, regular day. Amen.”

Day 9: Follow the Light

Read This: Matthew 2:1-2

The wise men followed a star. They didn’t have GPS. They didn’t have a map with the exact address. They didn’t know exactly where they were going or how long it would take. But they followed the light. And it led them straight to Jesus.

They traveled for months, maybe even years. They left everything behind. They trusted that the star would lead them to something worth finding. And it did.

Here’s the Truth: When you follow Jesus (the Light of the World), He’ll guide you. You don’t have to see the whole path. You just have to take the next step toward Him.

Mom Moment: You might not have all the answers. You might not know what next year holds. You might not know how to handle the situation with your teenager, your toddler, or your finances. But keep following Jesus. One step at a time.

The wise men didn’t know the whole journey when they started. They just knew they needed to follow the star. And every day, they got a little closer to Jesus.

That’s how your faith journey works, too. You don’t need to have everything figured out. You just need to keep moving toward Jesus. Read a verse. Pray a prayer. Make one good choice. Follow the light you have, and God will give you more light as you need it.

Think About It: What’s one step you can take toward Jesus today? It doesn’t have to be big. Just follow the light you have right now.

Quick Prayer: “Jesus, You are the Light. When I can’t see the whole path, help me take the next step. I don’t need to know everything. I just need to follow You. Light my way today. Guide me toward You. Amen.”

Day 10: Gifts from the Heart

Read This: Matthew 2:11

The wise men gave Jesus gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Expensive gifts. Costly gifts. Gifts that showed honor and worship. But the real gift wasn’t what they brought. It was that they showed up.

They traveled for miles and miles. They sacrificed time, money, and comfort. They could have sent the gifts with someone else. But they came themselves. Their presence was the real gift.

Here’s the Truth: God doesn’t need your perfect gifts. He just wants your heart.

Mom Moment: Your kids don’t need the fanciest presents under the tree. They need YOU. Your time. Your attention. Your love. Your presence.

In years to come, your kids won’t remember what you bought them. But they’ll remember the time you played a board game with them. They’ll remember you reading bedtime stories. They’ll remember you showing up for them.

The pressure to give the perfect gifts can be overwhelming. But what if this year, you focused more on presence than presents? What if you gave the gift of your time and attention?

The wise men’s gifts were valuable, but what made their visit special was that they came. They worshiped. They honored Jesus with their presence.

Think About It: What’s one way you can give your presence to your kids this Christmas season? Maybe it’s putting your phone down during dinner. Maybe it’s having a movie night. Maybe it’s just sitting with them.

Quick Prayer: “God, help me give what matters most: my heart, my time, my love. Remind me that presence is better than presents. Help me show up for the people You’ve given me. Thank You for showing up for me. Amen.”

Day 11: You Were Made for More

Read This: Luke 1:46-49

Mary’s song of praise starts with: “My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.”

Mary had just found out she was pregnant, unmarried, in a culture where that could get her killed. Her life was about to get really hard. But instead of panicking or complaining, she praised God.

She didn’t wait until everything was perfect. She didn’t wait until she understood it all. She praised God right in the middle of the uncertainty.

Here’s the Truth: You were made to worship. Your soul comes alive when you praise God. Even when life is hard, worship changes something inside you.

Mom Moment: Even when life is hard, you can still find reasons to praise. It might not come naturally. You might have to dig deep. But start small. Thank God for one thing today.

Maybe it’s as simple as: “God, thank You that I woke up this morning.” Or “Thank You for my coffee.” Or “Thank You for my kids, even though they’re driving me crazy right now.”

Praise shifts your perspective. It doesn’t magically fix your problems, but it reminds you that God is bigger than your problems. It lifts your eyes from your circumstances to the God who holds you.

Mary’s soul glorified the Lord. That means her whole being, her thoughts, her emotions, her spirit, focused on God’s greatness instead of her problems. And that changed everything.

Think About It: What’s one thing you can thank God for today, even if everything else feels hard? Write it down. Say it out loud. Let praise shift your perspective.

Quick Prayer: “God, my soul praises You. Even in the chaos, I choose joy. Even when things are hard, I choose to worship. Help me see Your goodness in the middle of my struggles. You are good, and You are worth praising. Amen.”

Day 12: Nothing Is Impossible

Read This: Luke 1:37

“For nothing will be impossible with God.”

Here’s the Truth: God can do anything. Period. Full stop. Nothing is too hard for Him. Nothing is beyond His reach. Nothing is impossible.

The angel told Mary she would have a baby, even though she was a virgin. Impossible. But God did it. Elizabeth was old and had never been able to have children. Impossible. But God gave her John the Baptist.

Throughout the Bible, God performs the impossible. He parts seas. He feeds thousands with a few loaves and fish. He raises people from the dead. He does what no one else can do.

Mom Moment: That impossible situation you’re facing? That broken relationship? That financial stress? That health issue? That prodigal child? God can handle it.

You might be looking at something in your life right now and thinking, “There’s no way this can get better.” But nothing is impossible with God.

That doesn’t mean it will be easy. That doesn’t mean it will happen on your timeline. But it does mean that God is not limited by your circumstances. He’s not limited by your bank account, your past mistakes, or your current situation.

When you’ve done everything you can do, God can still do what only He can do. Give it to Him. Stop trying to figure it all out on your own. Let God be God.

Think About It: What “impossible” situation do you need to hand over to God today? Say it out loud: “God, this feels impossible to me, but nothing is impossible with You.”

Quick Prayer: “God, I’m giving You the impossible things. The things that keep me up at night. The things I don’t know how to fix. I believe You can do what I can’t. Help my unbelief. Increase my faith. Show me that You’re bigger than my impossible. Amen.”

Day 13: Faithful in Waiting

Read This: Luke 2:25-32

Simeon waited his whole life to see Jesus. God had promised him he wouldn’t die until he saw the Messiah. So he waited. And waited. Year after year after year.

Can you imagine? Everyone around him probably thought he was crazy. “Give it up, Simeon. You’re getting old. It’s not going to happen.” But Simeon kept believing. Kept waiting. Kept watching.

And then one day, Mary and Joseph brought baby Jesus to the temple. And Simeon knew. This was the moment he’d been waiting for. He held Jesus in his arms and said, “Now I can die in peace. I’ve seen Your salvation.”

It was worth the wait.

Here’s the Truth: God’s timing is perfect, even when you’re tired of waiting.

Mom Moment: Waiting is hard, isn’t it? Waiting for answers. Waiting for change. Waiting for prayers to be answered. Waiting for your kids to grow out of hard phases. Waiting for a financial breakthrough. Waiting for healing.

But God is always working, even when you can’t see it. Just because you can’t see progress doesn’t mean nothing is happening. God is moving behind the scenes.

Simeon’s waiting wasn’t wasted. Every year that passed was building his faith, preparing his heart, strengthening his trust. And when Jesus finally came, Simeon was ready.

Your waiting isn’t wasted either. God is doing something in you while you wait. He’s building your faith. He’s teaching you to trust Him. He’s preparing you for what’s coming.

Think About It: What have you been waiting for? Can you trust that God is working even in the waiting?

Quick Prayer: “God, give me patience while I wait. I trust Your timing, even when I don’t understand it. Help me believe that You’re working behind the scenes. My waiting is not wasted. You’re doing something in me and through me. I choose to wait with hope. Amen.”

Day 14: Speak Truth

Read This: Luke 2:36-38

Anna was a prophetess who spoke God’s truth. She was 84 years old and had spent most of her life in the temple, praying and fasting. She’d been a widow for decades, but instead of becoming bitter, she became a woman of faith.

When she saw baby Jesus, she immediately started talking about Him to everyone who would listen. She couldn’t keep quiet about what God had done. She had to share the good news.

Here’s the Truth: Your words have power. Use them to point others to Jesus.

Mom Moment: What if you used your words today to encourage instead of complain? To build up instead of tear down? To speak hope instead of despair?

As a mom, your words shape your children. When you speak truth over them,” God made you special,” “You are loved,” “God has good plans for you, “you’re building their faith. When you speak truth to yourself, “God is with me,” “I can do this,” “God will provide, “you’re building your own faith.

Anna didn’t just think about Jesus. She talked about Him. She told everyone. She used her words to spread hope.

You have that same power. Your words can bring life or death, hope or despair. Choose life today. Choose hope. Choose to speak truth.

Think About It: What’s one encouraging thing you can say to your child today? What’s one truth you need to speak over yourself?

Quick Prayer: “God, guard my mouth. Help my words bring life. Give me the courage to speak truth, even when it’s hard. Help me encourage my kids with my words. Help me speak hope to myself. Let my words point people to You. Amen.”

Day 15: The Gift of Obedience

Read This: Matthew 1:24

“When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him.”

Here’s the Truth: Joseph didn’t argue. He didn’t make excuses. He didn’t wait to see if he felt like it later. He just obeyed.

Can you imagine how hard that must have been? To take Mary as his wife when everyone would assume the worst? To raise a child that wasn’t his? To trust God’s plan when it didn’t make sense?

But Joseph obeyed immediately. And because of his obedience, Jesus had an earthly father who loved Him and protected Him.

Mom Moment: What is God asking you to do? Maybe it’s forgiving someone who hurt you. Maybe it’s trust Him with your finances. Maybe it’s be patient with your child even when you’re exhausted. Maybe it’s letting go of control.

Whatever it is, are you willing to obey? Not next week. Not when you feel like it. Not when it’s convenient. But now.

Obedience is a gift you give to God. It says, “I trust You more than I trust myself. I believe Your way is better than my way.”

Joseph’s obedience changed the world. Your obedience matters too. When you choose to obey God in the small things, loving your difficult child, serving your spouse, being generous even when money is tight, you’re changing your world.

Think About It: What’s one thing God has been asking you to do that you’ve been putting off? What would it look like to obey today?

Quick Prayer: “God, help me obey quickly. I don’t want to waste time arguing with You or making excuses. Give me the courage to do what You’re asking, even when it’s hard. I trust that Your way is better than mine. Help me say yes. Amen.”

Day 16: Room in the Inn

Read This: Luke 2:7

“There was no room for them in the inn.”

Here’s the Truth: The world didn’t make room for Jesus. Every door was closed. Every inn was full. So the King of Kings was born in a barn.

But here’s what’s beautiful: Jesus came anyway. He didn’t wait for perfect conditions. He didn’t wait for people to be ready. He came to a world that had no room for Him.

Mom Moment: Is there room in your heart for Jesus this Christmas? Or is it too full of stress, worry, to-do lists, and expectations?

It’s so easy to get so busy celebrating Jesus that you forget to actually spend time with Jesus. The world will always try to crowd Him out. There will always be one more thing to do, one more place to be, one more gift to buy.

But what if this year, you made room? What if you said no to something good so you could say yes to Jesus? What if you cleared out some space in your schedule and your heart just to be with Him?

Jesus doesn’t need you to have a perfect Christmas. He just wants to be with you. Make room for Him.

Think About It: What’s taking up room in your heart that needs to go? What do you need to clear out to make room for Jesus?

Quick Prayer: “Jesus, I’m making room for You. Come into my heart again. Clear out the clutter. Clear out the stress. I don’t want to be too busy for You. You’re the reason for this season. Help me remember that. Amen.”

Day 17: God Sees You

Read This: Luke 1:48

“For he has looked on the humble estate of his servant.”

Here’s the Truth: God sees you. Your hard work. Your sacrifice. Your sleepless nights. Your tears. Your prayers. Your exhaustion. He sees it all.

Mary called herself a “humble servant.” She wasn’t famous. She wasn’t wealthy. She wasn’t important by the world’s standards. But God looked at her. He saw her. He chose her.

Mom Moment: Do you ever feel invisible? Like you could do a thousand things in a day and no one would notice? You clean the house, and it’s messy again in an hour. You make meals that get eaten in minutes. You wipe tears, noses, and counters, over and over and over.

And sometimes you wonder, “Does any of this matter? Does anyone even see me?”

God sees you. He sees every sacrifice you make. He sees every time you choose patience when you want to yell. He sees every prayer you pray over your sleeping kids. He sees every meal you make, every load of laundry you fold, every bedtime story you read.

You’re not invisible to Him. You’re not forgotten. You’re not unimportant. You matter to God. What you’re doing matters to God.

Think About It: What’s something you do that you feel goes unnoticed? Thank God that He sees it. Ask Him to remind you that He sees everything.

Quick Prayer: “God, thank You for seeing me, really seeing me. On the days when I feel invisible, remind me that You notice everything. I’m not forgotten. I’m not overlooked. I matter to You. Help me do what I do for an audience of One, You. Amen.”

Day 18: Let It Go

Read This: Luke 1:38

“I am the Lord’s servant. May everything you have said about me come true.”

Here’s the Truth: Mary surrendered her whole life to God’s plan. She let go of control. She didn’t know how everything would work out. But she trusted God anyway.

This couldn’t have been easy. She was giving up her reputation, her plans, her comfortable life. She was saying yes to something scary and unknown. But she said yes anyway.

Mom Moment: What do you need to let go of? Control? Perfection? Fear? Your expectations of how things should be?

Maybe you need to let go of the perfect Christmas you imagined. Maybe you need to let go of trying to do everything for everyone. Maybe you need to let go of guilt over past mistakes.

Surrender is scary. It feels like losing. But really, it’s winning. When you let go and let God have control, you’re free. You don’t have to carry everything anymore. You don’t have to figure it all out. You just have to trust Him.

Mary’s surrender led to the most beautiful story ever told. What beautiful thing might God do in your life if you just let go?

Think About It: What’s one thing you’re holding onto too tightly? What would it look like to open your hands and give it to God?

Quick Prayer: “God, I surrender. I’m letting go of control. Your will, not mine. I don’t need to understand everything. I just need to trust You. Take my plans, my fears, my expectations. I’m giving them all to You. Do what only You can do. Amen.”

Day 19: Joy in the Journey

Read This: Luke 1:44

“When I heard your greeting, the baby in my womb jumped for joy.”

Here’s the Truth: Even before Jesus was born, people were filled with joy because of Him. Elizabeth’s baby, John the Baptist, literally leaped inside her when Mary (pregnant with Jesus) came to visit.

Joy isn’t about having a perfect life. Joy is about having Jesus. Even in the waiting, even in the uncertainty, even before everything is figured out, there can be joy.

Mom Moment: You don’t have to wait for perfect circumstances to have joy. Joy isn’t happiness. Happiness depends on what’s happening. Joy depends on who you know.

You can have joy even when your kids are driving you crazy. You can have joy even when money is tight. You can have joy even when life is hard. Because joy isn’t based on your circumstances. It’s based on Jesus.

John the Baptist wasn’t even born yet, but he already recognized Jesus and responded with joy. You can respond with joy too, even in the middle of your current season.

Choose joy today. Not fake happiness. Not pretending everything is fine. But real, deep joy that comes from knowing Jesus is with you.

Maybe joy today looks like dancing in the kitchen with your kids while making dinner. Maybe it’s laughing at the mess instead of crying over it. Maybe it’s choosing to see God’s goodness in the middle of a hard season.

Joy is a choice. And it’s available to you right now, not because your life is perfect, but because Jesus is perfect and He’s with you.

Think About It: Where can you choose joy today? Not because everything is perfect, but because Jesus is with you? What’s one small thing you can thank God for right now? Say it out loud.

Quick Prayer: “Jesus, You are my joy. Help me find joy in You today, not in perfect circumstances. When I’m overwhelmed, remind me that joy is a choice. I choose to rejoice in You, even when life is messy. Even when things are hard, You are still good. Fill me with Your joy today. Amen.”

Day 20: Strength for Today

Read This: Isaiah 9:6

“Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God.”

Here’s the Truth: Jesus is mighty. He’s stronger than your worst day. He’s wiser than your biggest problem. He’s more powerful than your deepest fear.

When Isaiah called Jesus “Mighty God,” he was saying that Jesus has all the power in the universe. Nothing is too hard for Him. Nothing can defeat Him.

Mom Moment: You don’t have to be strong today. Lean on Him. He’s got you.

Some days you wake up, and you just don’t have it in you. You don’t have the patience. You don’t have the energy. You don’t have the strength to face another hard day.

That’s okay. You’re not supposed to do this in your own strength. Jesus is your Mighty God. His strength is made perfect in your weakness.

When you feel weak, that’s when His strength shows up best. When you can’t, He can. When you’re tired, He carries you. When you’re overwhelmed, He fights for you.

You don’t have to be superhuman. You just have to be connected to the One who is mighty.

Think About It: What do you need God’s strength for today? Tell Him you can’t do it alone. Ask Him to be strong for you.

Quick Prayer: “Mighty God, I need Your strength today. I can’t do this on my own. I’m tired, I’m weak, and I’m overwhelmed. But You are strong. Carry me. Fight for me. Be my strength when I have none left. Amen.”

Day 21: Almost There

Read This: Luke 2:6

“While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born.”

Here’s the Truth: Mary and Joseph traveled for days. Pregnant Mary rode on a donkey. They had to find somewhere to stay. It was hard. It was long. It was exhausting. Then finally, it was time. God’s timing was perfect.

They didn’t know when they started the journey, exactly when or where the baby would be born. They just kept going. One step at a time. And when it was time, everything fell into place.

Mom Moment: You’re almost to Christmas, mama. Don’t give up now. Finish strong.

I know you’re tired. I know December is long. I know you’ve been running on empty. But you’re almost there.

Just keep taking the next step. Make the next meal. Wrap the next present. Show up for the next event. You don’t have to do everything perfectly. You just have to keep going.

God’s timing is perfect for you, too. Everything you’re doing, everything you’re preparing, it’s all leading to something beautiful. Don’t quit before you see it.

Think About It: What’s one thing you need to finish this week? Ask God to give you the strength to finish well.

Quick Prayer: “God, give me energy to finish well. I’m tired, but I’m almost there. Help me take the next step. Help me not give up. Your timing is perfect. I trust that everything I’m doing matters. Carry me to the finish line. Amen.”

Day 22: The Best Gift

Read This: John 3:16

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son.”

Here’s the Truth: Christmas isn’t about what’s under your tree. It’s about what God gave us, His Son.

God didn’t send a card. He didn’t send money. He didn’t send a solution from a distance. He sent His Son. He gave us Jesus. That’s the best gift ever given.

Mom Moment: Teach your kids that Jesus is the best gift. Everything else is just extra.

It’s so easy to get caught up in the presents, decorations, and parties. But none of that is the point. The point is Jesus.

God loved you so much that He sent Jesus to save you. Not because you earned it. Not because you were good enough. But because He loves you. That’s the gospel. That’s the good news.

This Christmas, don’t let the gifts overshadow the Gift. Don’t let the celebration of stuff crowd out the celebration of Jesus.

Think About It: How can you help your family focus on Jesus this Christmas? Maybe you read the Christmas story together. Maybe you talk about what Jesus means to you. Make Jesus the center.

Quick Prayer: “God, thank You for the gift of Jesus. Help me focus on what really matters. Help me teach my kids that Jesus is the best gift. Everything else is just extra. You gave us Your very best. Thank You. Amen.”

Day 23: Peace Over Perfection

Read This: Isaiah 9:6

“Prince of Peace.”

Here’s the Truth: Jesus offers peace. Not a perfect Christmas, just perfect peace in the middle of imperfection.

Peace isn’t the absence of problems. It’s the presence of Jesus in the middle of your problems. Jesus is the Prince of Peace. He gives you a peace that doesn’t make sense, a peace that stays even when everything around you is chaotic.

Mom Moment: Let go of perfection, mama. Burned cookies? Messy house? Forgot something important? It’s okay. Choose peace instead.

Your kids won’t remember if the cookies were perfect. They’ll remember if you were present. They’ll remember whether you were stressed and snappy or peaceful and present.

Peace is better than perfection every single time. Perfect Christmas cards don’t matter if your heart is anxious. Perfect decorations don’t matter if your soul is stressed.

Jesus offers you His peace. The kind of peace that calms your racing heart. The kind of peace that helps you breathe deep and let go. The kind of peace that says, “It’s okay. You’re okay. I’ve got this.”

Think About It: What “perfect” thing do you need to let go of? Choose peace instead. Give yourself permission to be imperfect.

Quick Prayer: “Prince of Peace, I choose Your peace over perfect everything. Calm my anxious heart. Help me let go of what doesn’t matter. Give me Your peace that passes understanding. I don’t need perfect. I just need You. Amen.”

Day 24: He’s Here

Read This: Luke 2:10-11

“Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.”

Here’s the Truth: Jesus came. He’s here. The waiting is over. Today is the day we celebrate the greatest gift ever given.

The angels announced it: “A Savior has been born to YOU.” Not just to the world. To you. Personally. Jesus came for you.

Mom Moment: Tomorrow is Christmas, mama. You made it. Take a deep breath. Look at your kids. Look at your life. Jesus came for all of this. He came to save you, to love you, to be with you.

All the stress, all the preparation, all the work, it was all leading to this. The celebration of Jesus. The remembering that God loved us so much that He came to be with us.

You did good, mama. Even on the hard days. Even when you felt like you were failing. You showed up. You loved your kids. You pointed them to Jesus. That’s what matters.

Tonight, when you tuck your kids into bed, remember Mary tucking baby Jesus into a manger. Remember that God chose to enter the world as a vulnerable baby. He chose to need a mother. He chose to need love and care.

And He chose you to love and care for your babies too.

Think About It: What are you most grateful for this Christmas? Tell God. Thank Him. Celebrate Him.

Quick Prayer: “Jesus, You came to save me. You’re the reason I celebrate. Thank You for loving me. Thank You for my family. Thank You for being with us through it all. I love You. Merry Christmas. Amen.”

Final Thoughts, Mama

You did it. 24 days of showing up. Even on the hard days. Even when you were tired. Even when you didn’t feel like it. God saw every single moment.

This Christmas, remember this: You don’t have to do it all. You just have to open your heart to the One who came to save you.

Jesus came for you. He loves you. He sees you. He’s with you. And that’s the best gift you could ever receive.

Merry Christmas, sweet friend. You’re doing better than you think. You’re loved more than you know. And Jesus is so glad you’re His. ❤️

Want to save these devotions? Pin this post and come back to it every day this December! And share it with another busy mom who needs this reminder. Let’s encourage each other this Christmas season.

How to Use These Devotions

Make it work for YOUR schedule:

  • Read one each morning with your coffee
  • Read one before bed after the kids are asleep
  • Read them with your kids at breakfast or dinner
  • Listen to someone read them to you while you drive

Make it personal:

  • Journal your thoughts after each devotion
  • Share your favorite one on social media
  • Text a devotion to a friend who needs encouragement
  • Talk about the “Think About It” questions with your spouse or a friend

Make it stick:

  • Write the verse on a sticky note and put it on your bathroom mirror
  • Set a phone reminder to read each day
  • Screenshot your favorite prayer and read it throughout the day
  • Share what God is teaching you with your kids

Remember: There’s no wrong way to do this. The goal isn’t perfection. It’s connection. Connection with God, connection with yourself, and connection with what really matters this Christmas.

You’ve got this, mama. One day at a time. ❤️:** What would it look like to say “yes” to God today, even in your unpreparedness? Maybe it’s saying yes to rest instead of more Christmas prep. Maybe it’s saying yes to a simple Christmas instead of an Instagram-perfect one.

Quick Prayer: “God, I don’t feel ready for Christmas or much of anything right now. But I’m saying yes to you anyway. Use my mess. Use my ordinary life. Show up in the middle of my chaos. I’m available, even if I’m not perfect. Amen.”
