“Is It Just Me Or Is It Getting Crazier Out There?” – A Decluttered Mind

The past three months have been emotionally draining. It’s exhausting trying to even think about it. Nary a day went by where I would wake up and be greeted by heart-wrenching and anger-inducing news trending online. This must be the darkest timeline Abed was referring to. It’s enough to make anyone crazy, so says The Joker.

I distanced myself from the melee as much as I could, never minding being considered as apathetic or apolitical. I limited my time on social media and focused my energy on other things instead. And it gave me peace of mind, I’ll tell you that. I was able to focus more on the certification course I was taking and I have managed to be more productive at work. It was a good run. But somehow, I knew it had to end.

With all the chaos that’s happening in the Philippines, in the US, and pretty much everywhere else, I cannot simply sit in my couch and watch the world burn. I am privileged, I know that for a fact. But being privileged does not excuse me from being indifferent. I know I got to use my voice, no matter how insignificant it may seem. In the words of Marcus Aurelius: you can also commit injustice by doing nothing. So how about we start doing something?

My platform is not as big as the others but I decided to use it for what I feel is right and necessary. I also understand that we also have to choose our battles carefully. I’ve chosen mine.

This is for my country and for everyone who is being oppressed.
