Hi there!
You are listening to the Schapera Show, and I am Neil, bringing you reports of my Shamanic Journeys to the Spirit Realm, and the guidance that the benevolent Spirits give us.
The purpose of this journey is to travel to the Lower World and request that the beloved Spirits of the Lower World, the Spirits in animal form to show me—for the benefit of all of us—a beautiful place that would inspire us to overcome the stresses and despair that we may be feeling at the moment.
I’m immediately going into the tree where there’s my portal to go to the Lower World, and I ease my way through and down. Now, I’m descending through space toward what looks like the planet Earth—but it’s actually the Lower World,.
I’m much closer now, gliding over the Lower World, wondering where I will be guided to descend and hopefully be shown this beautiful place. I see a whole lot of lights coming up from the ground into the sky. They’re colored and glistening—red, white, purple, blue. It’s like an odd kind of fireworks display, except there are no bursts of color, just streams of light going up. It seems like something is attracting me or wanting me to notice it—it’s very noticeable.
Straight away, I get a message from the Spirit World saying: Notice the beauty. There is so much beauty around us. It may be obvious, but we just haven’t bothered to look, or it might not be obvious at all. If we observe our surroundings with the intention of I wish to see the beauty, let me notice the beauty, then we will see it.
They give me an example of the cicada. At first glance, one might think of it as an insect that one doesn’t like and doesn’t want flying around. But actually, if one looks closely at a cicada, it’s a really beautiful, beautiful object. Similarly, there are all kinds of instances of things which, if we would only not react to with negativity but really look at, we would be amazed at the beauty—the amount of beauty that surrounds us.
They say also: Cultivate your other senses to be aware of beauty. Listen. Use your ears, especially if you are in a place of nature where there are birds. We might be so used to bird sounds that we don’t really stop. Instead of the phrase being smell the roses, it’s hear the symphony, you could say.
I’m landing now. I headed toward that light-streaming area, but I actually find myself in a rocky mountains area. It reminds me of the landscape in Sedona. I’m on these red rocks, and I know there’s a cave entrance that I should go into. Immediately, I feel a little reservation because I’m not fond of dark and closed spaces.
They say to me: Okay. They do want me to be accommodated, and they say yes, that’s a message. The Spirits are not judgmental; the Spirits are accommodating. They say it’s really just an archway to go through. I go through this archway, and even before I do, I know I will find myself in an open-air space. It’s a very large pond or small lake, and all kinds of trees surround it—especially one of my Spirit trees.
I’ve never seen this before; I usually see my Spirit tree as an individual. But here, this small lake is surrounded by my Spirit trees. In the Spirit trees, I see bird nests hanging—nests woven by birds just like one sees in Africa in the game reserve. Birds are flying in and out—beautiful birds. I see birds I know are called bee-eaters, with beautiful yellow and green colors, and then I see parrots. There’s a lot of bird life.
I see crocodiles in the water. It’s almost as if I’ve gone to some magical game reserve place in Africa, which is an area that I really, really love. The Spirits are showing me the kind of surroundings that I do really love. They say: There’s beauty that one can see and hear, and then there’s beauty that one remembers—places you’ve been.
They say: Don’t forget. Don’t forget the beauty that you have already seen. That’s part of your story, your history, and it’s a great balm for the soul. You might have to look at old photographs or videos or just jog your memory, but tell yourself that you have experienced wonderful beauty—landscapes, etc.
Then, they have me sit on a tree trunk that has fallen over, resting on the ground. I understand it to be hollow. They say: Sing a message of hope.
I understand that they’re saying: This is for all of us. It’s directed at me, but this is meant for everybody who might hear this journey. We have so many stories that we make up based on our experiences, what we read, and what we see on TV. We create so much unhappy commentary. But they say that, as an antidote to the unhappy commentary, we should…
We have such unhappy commentary that we create. The Spirits say that as an antidote to the unhappy commentary—especially the kind we create as a result of past trauma, current experiences, or what we absorb from the media—we should **sing out**. It’s not about being a good singer, but about putting words to music, letting a tune, a few notes, shape a new commentary—a commentary of **hope and love**.
The Spirits remind us of the phrase: **”Only love is real.”** A phrase often said but not given enough attention. They explain that this means **love is reality**—the true foundation of existence, the only unshakable certainty in this strange World we work so hard to understand. Love is the immutable essence of reality. To give love, and if we are fortunate, to receive it, is the fundamental structure of our existence.
We should sing songs with a **new commentary—one that includes love, beauty, appreciation, and gratitude.** This should become the new inner story we tell ourselves, a new inner dialogue shaping our perception of the World.
The Spirits emphasize the importance of what we tell others. In stressful times, we tend to share our negative commentary with like-minded people who are also anxious, scared, or despairing. We reinforce each other’s negative narratives. They warn that while discrimination in thought is essential, **we must not lose balance.** We must also acknowledge and celebrate **love, beauty, kindness, compassion, and hope.**
They remind us of those few—but truly many—who have struggled against enormous odds to improve civilization. **Where would progress be, how could it happen, if those who carried hope allowed negativity to dictate their inner narrative?**
The scene at the lake darkens. I see multicolored lights floating in the air—perhaps fireflies. They drift and swirl in the darkness, forming a breathtaking kaleidoscope of tiny glowing orbs. Their reflections shimmer on the water. The Spirits share another message: **”As above, so below.”**
They urge us to **consider this phrase as an encouragement to resist being overwhelmed by negativity**. Instead, we should cultivate **positivity, hope, beauty, and love**.
They stress the importance of **exposing ourselves to goodness,** especially when so much around us might seem bleak. This goodness can be found in **people, places, animals, landscapes, books, TV shows,** or simply by seeing the **good in our own lives—even when faced with difficulty**.
The Spirits say: **”Remember, pain and struggle are not all there is. There is love. There is beauty. See it. Experience it. Smell it. Feel it. Taste it. Acknowledge it. Invite it into your consciousness.”**
The Spirits encourage me to leave this beautiful pool of light and my Spirit tree. They ask me to sit outside. Again, I find myself in the mountains, like in Sedona. Sitting on red rocks, I gaze out at the vast landscape before me.
They remind me of a lesson they have given before: **”You want to be in a place of perspective where you can see the big picture.”**

The biggest picture of all would be the **meaning of existence itself**, an idea difficult to define. But even if we cannot fully grasp it, the Spirits say: **”There is meaning. We are not in a meaningless existence.”**
The first fundamental truth to accept is that **existence is sacred, not meaningless**. This is the foundation from which we should view reality.
They tell me that this understanding is our place of **authenticity.** To **know or hold onto, with all that we have, that the universe is sacred.**
This is **the most vital truth**—even when life seems harsh, even when the World appears chaotic. **The universe is sacred.**
Often, we may drift toward thoughts of meaninglessness, but the Spirits warn: **”No, no, no! The universe is sacred.”**
They say: **”Never lose sight of this. Never forget. Never let negativity overwhelm it. The universe is sacred.”**
They suggest that if this became our **guiding principle**, our **foundation**, life would not only be **bearable**—it would be **beautiful**. It would be **meaningful**. It would inspire us to treat ourselves and others with **kindness and generosity**.
The Spirits observe: **”It’s strange—children are taught the importance of sharing in elementary school, but we seem to forget it as adults.”**
Now, they tell me to **fly away and return to the Middle World**.
And with that, I return to the Middle World, and the Journey is over.
