hadal snail fish, oil pastel on paper
this is another work for @montereybayaquarium ‘s Deep Sea December event 🙂 day 4, chilly
usually when i do oil pastel it’s for animals with fur and the drawing is larger so there’s more detail, but drawing something shiny in oil pastel was a challenge definitely. idk if i’m entirely happy with it but the animal is very cool
so the theme for day 4 is chilly and so i decided to draw a hadal snailfish bc they have high levels of trymethylamine n-oxide, which they use as a protein stabiliser to cope with the pressure and cold of the deep sea.
