This is a big Baltic Porter that might remind you of an Imperial Stout with noticeable sweetness, balanced by roasted malt and hop bitterness. A lengthy conditioning creates a smooth, chocolaty mouthfeel enhanced by brown sugar.

Framinghammer is an original, boundary-pushing lager. This is a big Baltic Porter that might remind you of an Imperial Stout with noticeable sweetness, balanced by roasted malt and hop bitterness. A lengthy conditioning creates a smooth, chocolaty mouthfeel enhanced by brown sugar. Framinghammer is a unique creation that pays homage to our hometown of Framingham MA. Each batch spends a lengthy conditioning period in various casks to create a smooth, chocolatey texture that compliments some creative additions.

This festive lager features the warming embrace of honey and rye, harmoniously spiced with orange zest, ginger and nutmeg. Raise a stein to the season and let ‘Toy Soldier’ march your taste buds into celebrating!

The Toy Soldier beer is also an homage to the town of Framingham, home to Jack’s Abby. Christmas at Shoppers’ World in Framingham (1951-1994) used to be truly festive. Jordan Marsh was at one end of the plaza and Jordan’s basement was on the other end along with Santa prominently placed in the gazebo with a pen nearby for his reindeer. Huge blocks spelled out Joy to the World. And then there were the soldiers – a platoon of 24 wooden toy soldiers - the smallest of them 10 feet tall and the 20 foot tall General who commanded them. All were garbed in red, blue and gold, each smartly presenting a shiny black wooden rifle. When Shoppers’ World got ready for Christmas the soldiers were placed facing out each against a pillar on the lower level. In 1994 Shoppers’ World was demolished. In 1995 and 1996 these soldiers started reappearing scattered around Framingham at local businesses. Jack’s Abby is now one of these locations and the toy soldier is prominently displayed at their annual German Christmas Market, which will be held on December 6-7 and 13-14.
