2022 San Diego Brewers Guild Annual Report – SD BEER | Capital of Craft Beer

As the nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting independent craft beer manufacturers in San Diego County, the San Diego Brewers Guild (SDBG) has much to celebrate when looking back at its accomplishments in 2022. The programming spearheaded by SDBG is made possible through support from its brewery members, community partners, craft beer patrons and more.

Here’s a look back at some of the key accomplishments of the San Diego Brewers Guild in 2022:

Hosted 14 events, education seminars, and more to support craft beer business owners
Celebrating 25 years, SDBG hosted anniversary events, including SD Beer Weekend, the return of Guild Fest to kick-off SD Beer Week, and the Beer Garden at The Lodge at Torrey Pines. SDBG organized SD Craft Beer Con, its 8th Annual Golf Tournament, eight Tap Into Knowledge educational seminars (i.e. – Brewing for Competition, DIY Social Media for Small to Medium-sized Breweries & Brewpubs and Financial Distress in the Craft Beer Industry), and more.

More than $25,000 raised for SDBG via events and member programs
SDBG is immensely grateful to its brewery and affiliate members, who come up with inventive ways to support the organization’s efforts. This year, SDBG received more than $25,000 from special collaboration beers, like 2022 Capital of Craft IPA made possible by BSG, White Labs Inc., Canworks and Pizza Port Brewing Co., SD Beer Weekend Pint Program through Boelter Beverage Co., SD Beer Hop Blend by BSG and other one-of-a-kind fundraising events like Burgeon’s 5th Anniversary Invitational and Pucks & Pints 4, a local charity brewer hockey match.

The Board of Directors continued its efforts to improve the well-being of the craft beer industry
The SDBG Code of Conduct was released. In partnership with the National Conflict Resolution Center, SDBG offered two special training opportunities for its membership:

  • The Bystander Challenge: Bystander Intervention & Anti-Harassment Training focuses on empowering bystander communication and builds on tools that work to help employees gain confidence in conducting these difficult conversations.
  • The Art of Inclusive Communication helps participants explore their own personal and cultural identity and learn how it relates to communication style; how these different styles can sometimes be the root of communication breakdown; and, most importantly, how they can learn to recognize when a communication breakdown is happening and do something about it.

San Diego is home to some of the best craft breweries in the world, and the San Diego Brewers Guild is dedicated to promoting and supporting its local craft breweries. Thanks to everyone for supporting San Diego’s independent craft brewing community. Cheers to another great year in the Capital of Craft™!
