On the 12th day of August in the early 1980s our son Max was born. We were lucky to have had a great many fun birthdays before he passed. Yesterday we decided that pie was just as good as cake for a birthday celebration, so Raine and I made a coconut cream pie from scratch. Raine had never had that flavor before, so it was great to see him enjoy his piece when we served it up. Sweetie, of course, really enjoyed his because it was his request that it be a cream pie.
