I wanted to put together a little starter kit of RSS feeds, not just from blogs, but from newsletters, YouTube, social media, and other sources. I needed a place to house it, so I uploaded the file to GitHub. I generally use a combination of Feedly and Reeder for RSS subscriptions, but for this little project I used feedland.com to collect and categorize the various RSS feeds.
I may add to this set over time. The initial set, as of July 31, 2026, was haphazard, just semi-random (but recommended!) things I found myself combining from different source types.
Setting the collection up in feedland.com made it easy for me to assign multiple categories to the various feeds. This (see screenshot below) is the breakdown as of the launch. Some items, such as venues, get one category, while others get multiple, like a YouTube channel or social media account might also be tagged for a musician or a label, and some blogs are just blogs, while others are also for venues or musicians, and so forth.
To employ this set of recommended RSS subscriptions, just download the xml file (click the down arrow toward the upper right of that page, or save this page as a file on your computer) and import it into the RSS reader of your choice.
