2022 is a powerful vintage in Bordeaux and that is evident in this wine from grand cru classé Château du Tertre in Margaux. Château du Tertre is usually among, but priced a little above, the more affordable group of the Bordeaux cru classés. The 2022 vintage of Château du Tertre has rich aromas of very ripe blackcurrant together with cedar and pencil lead characters. The power reminds of Napa. However, while rich, the palate retains its Bordeaux character. It’s medium bodied, with flavours of blackcurrant and youthful green wood. Long length on the finish promises a long future. Overall, this is a very good, high quality wine. Cellar it for a further 5 years to allow the fruit and oak to settle, and drink it over the following 20 years.
