UNLV seeks to recruit and retain a racially, ethnically, and linguistically diverse workforce as a reflection of its Minority Serving Institution (MSI), Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI), and Asian American, Native American, and Pacific Islander Serving Institution (ANAPISI) statuses, and associated commitments to serving the People of Southern Nevada, including by offering our students multiple, contrasting perspectives that challenge Eurocentric, heteropatriarchal, and otherwise hegemonic ways of teaching, learning, and creating and sharing knowledge, and that transform how students engage in the world. Most of UNLV’s students, at all academic levels, are first generation college students. UNLV promotes community well-being and achievement through education, research, scholarship, creative activities, and clinical services, and stimulates economic development and diversification, fosters a climate of innovation, promotes health, and enriches the cultural vitality of the communities that it serves. Accordingly, applicants should demonstrate support for racial equity and social justice as central features of a respectful, positive work environment, as well as interdisciplinary expertise and a commitment to addressing social disparities through critical community-embedded and -informed research and praxis.
