Liquids and Gases Properties Engineer

Job description

We are currently looking for a highly motivated Liquids and Gases Properties Engineer with a BS/MS/PhD and at least 5 (preferably 10) years of work experience, at a fast paced, internationally growing organization with a start-up culture. In this role, you will participate in a wide range of real-world consulting projects including the design, analysis, and optimization of turbomachinery components.

Why you should apply:

  • Hands-on experience in real consulting projects
  • Challenge yourself in a supportive environment.
  • Wonderful benefits package including profit sharing, generous paid off time, and flexible schedule.

Responsibilities:

  • Joining our company, you will become acquainted with and apply widely recognized commercial programs for modeling the properties of various working fluids. You will also develop new methods for calculating the thermodynamic properties of different working fluids and their mixtures, focusing on thermodynamic cycles for power and refrigeration units.
  • You will master and perform complex calculations involving the equilibrium composition of high-temperature combustion products, chemically reacting systems, and multiphase multicomponent mixtures to determine phase equilibrium. These calculations will be essential for designing and analyzing turbomachinery and implementing engineering projects.
  • You will work within a department specializing in a specific area of turbomachinery, such as thermodynamic and thermal-fluid network modeling, turbine design, compressor design, or pumping systems.
  • You will learn to utilize the software products widely employed in our company for turbomachinery design and calculations.
  • Your role will involve contributing your knowledge and experience to developing new approaches and methodologies for the design and analysis of turbomachinery.
  • You will participate in engineering projects, performing calculations, processing designs, discussing results, and preparing technical reports.
  • Collaboration with other departments, such as strength analysis and design teams, will be a key aspect of your role.
  • This position offers opportunities for professional and career growth.

Qualifications:

  • A BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
  • 5–10 years of experience in thermodynamics, heat and mass transfer, and hydraulics.
  • A deep understanding of the properties and calculations related to pure fluids, mixtures, solids, and both real and ideal fluids.
  • Basic knowledge of chemical thermodynamics.
  • Proficiency in commercial programs for calculating the properties of pure fluids and mixtures, such as REFPROP and Coolprop, is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and develop advanced technical principles, techniques, and concepts.
  • Programming experience is a plus.
