Superbowl Winning Wings Cooked Any Way You Like – Bub ’n Mutha’s

Since the very first Super Bowl back in 1967, football has grown to be the most popular sport in the USA.  With that growth, foods and getting together for the game have grown as well.  But, when the Buffalo Bills of the 1990’s went to the Super Bowl 4 times, a special finger food’s popularity exploded.  In a word, WINGS!

You.  Wings, the often discarded part of chickens in restaurants everywhere, suddenly became the must have food of football.  So much so that, as a meat, they are one of the most expensive (based on the amount of meat per pound), and in some cases one of the hardest pieces of meat to find.  Meaning, if you do find enough, have the funds to purchase them, prepping and cooking them with care and creativity is essential.

In addition, the debate as to how they should be cooked and served rages on.  Flats and drumettes vs. whole wings.  Grilling, vs. frying.  And now frying vs. air frying.  Then once you decide on a winning method, what recipe do you use.  While traditional “Buffalo” wings are great, here are two recipes that can be used with any of the above cooking methods.  Best of all, the only difference between the two is the rub added to the mix and the wings.

Wings That Bite Back

Chicken wings (you decide how much)

Equal parts of oil (your choice) and soy sauce.

2 table spoons Bub ‘n Mutha’s Honey ‘n Heat per cup of liquid mix

Blend the liquid and the spice together until well mixed.  Using a Ziplock bag, pour liquid mix over the wings and let sit for at least an hour.

For smoking – Place ribs on the smoker and season the top side with more Bub ‘n Mutha’s Honey ‘n Heat.  After an hour, turn and coat the other side with more Bub ‘n Mutha’s Honey ‘n Heat.  Cook until done.

For grilling – Season top side while on the grill.  When ready to flip, season the other side and continue flipping until cooked to desired crispiness.

In the oven – Season top side with Honey ‘n Heat and place in oven at 250 degrees for an hour.  Flip and season the other side with the rub and return to the oven for about 45 minutes and test for doneness.

Air Fryer – Season the top side and place in fryer at 400 degrees for about 8 minutes.  Flip, season and repeat.  Since air fryers are all different, test one before removing and adjust times.

You and your Super Bowl guests will enjoy wings no matter how you cook them.

Chicken Wings Mild and Wild

Repeat everything above except substitute Bub ‘n Mutha’s Honey ‘n Heat with Bub ‘n Mutha’s Chixx Dig It rub.

Better still, get both rubs and make a batch of each, so all can enjoy fantastic rubs, funny commercials, and if time allows, watch the game.
