Comments Are the Key to LinkedIn Engagement

LinkedIn commentsThe LinkedIn algorithm prioritizes engagement. The more discussion on a post, the more the AI algorithm kicks in and shares content with more people inside and outside your own network.

I’ve noticed that many people simply create LinkedIn posts but do not focus on the engagement side.  That’s why most LinkedIn posts have so few impressions.

The more interaction within the comment section, the more the LinkedIn AI algorithm keeps your post circulating.

While “likes” show approval, a “like” is worth very little to the AI algorithm. Comments, on the other hand, indicate deep engagement, what LinkedIn wants to see.

Quality comments

As the author of a LinkedIn post or article, your job is only partway done when you hit the “post” button. Once it is out there, you should shift your focus to sparking discussion.

The first 90 minutes after posting are the most important for generating more visibility of your post. If LinkedIn detects early engagement, it sees your post as valuable and increases its visibility.

To maximize engagement, it’s important to focus on the quality of comments. Longer comments have more impact. Short replies like “Great post!” don’t carry as much weight as detailed, thoughtful responses.

Threaded conversations (multiple back-and-forth replies) are gold. The more interaction within the comment section, the more LinkedIn keeps your post circulating. That’s why your replies matter! If you reply to every comment, you effectively double the engagement on your post.
