How to Help Out With Abandoned and Neglected Pets – Pibbles & More Animal Rescue

With so many abandoned or neglected pets across the USA, it’s more important than ever that we take the time to pitch in and work as a community to pick up the slack. If you’re interested in volunteering, here are some pointers to get started.

Resources

Brushing up on your knowledge and knowing who to reach out to and contact is crucial before you commit to a volunteer position.

  • There are plenty of online directories that list all active animal shelters in 50 states across the USA
  • Services like Charity Navigator help you to vet which animal non-profits are legitimate and worthy of your time and energy
  • Make sure to read plenty of first-hand accounts of what it’s like to work with animals before committing to a volunteer position

Digital Aid

With the advent of technology and social media, it’s possible to get plenty done from a digital position.

  • Advocate for the latest animal rights issues and use an image resizer to post high-quality images across social media
  • Online fundraising platforms allow you to easily contribute to non-profit projects as they arise
  • If you have a strong online following, you can help shelter animals to find new owners by posting them on your feed

Physical Aid

Online action is important but the most profound impact comes from getting your hands dirty and physically involving yourself in animal activism

  • Fostering or adopting an abandoned pet is amongst the most significant actions you can take to save one from a kill shelter
  • State and local conservation projects can affect the well-being of all animals, see what groundwork is taking place in your community
  • If you can’t foster a pet, there are many other things you can help out with. Volunteer to assist with transporting animals to their new homes, help shelters with adoption paperwork, and lend a hand whenever and wherever you can.

When it comes to abandoned and neglected pets, we all have a part to play. Be certain, however, to carry out plenty of research before you dive in and find a role that’s right for you.

We rescue dogs and cats, puppies and kittens, from high-kill shelters and dangerous situations and place them in loving homes across the tri-state and New England area, including NY, NJ, PA, CT, NH, MA, ME, and VT. Learn more, at: www.pmarinc.org
